Looking at the modern house thread, i'm curious what model and manufacturer of sofa people like based on style and comfort. For me the Ekornes Stressless line is marginal stylistically but very comfortable. I also like the over-the-top style of the amorphous Vladamir Kagan pieces - they are surprisingly comfortable but may be too much in most applications especially if in non-subtle colors. Kastholm and Fabicius modular sofas are surprizingly comfortable but a little low - in the way '50s - '60s Danish exposed metal and leather style tends to be. Finally, if you can afford one, Nakashima sofa benches are surprizingly comfortable considering they are uncushioned wood. Does anyone else have and opinions on good, comfortable sofas that will complement modern design? Regards, Art S.
Here in Dallas/Ft Worth there are stores where you can custom build leather furniture to your spec. We did that and it turned out awesome yet very reasonable ! My advice if you choose this route; Keep back 25% or more till final delivery. Dont do suede; looks killer in the showroom but hard to maintain and shows wear. Dark colors > Light.
To me both Minotti and B&B are the best choices. MY dining chairs are B&B and i´m very happy with them...they have 10Years but are still in impecable form. Minotti have some of the most beautifull sofas i have ever seen, and so do b&B...I like specially Andy and bend.
If you're willing to wait for custom, Gamma Arredamenti of Italy made my sofa/chair set. Moderately expensive, but they still look great 8 years from new.
