I'm in Orlando this week on business and would like to hit a model shop if there are any around - we don't have any in KC anymore... Anyway, if anyone knows of one, or a place that sells 1:18's give me a shout back.

    Thanks,

    Roy

Yeah, that's kinda what I was coming up with, too... We don't have any model shops in KC and every model I've gotten for the last 4-5 years has been from the internet. I was just hoping maybe there'd be a shop here in the Orlando area I could hit while I was in town - but I couldn't find any and was hoping maybe some of the local guys would know of a place.

Wish I could help, but I don't know of any there anymore. When I was growing up, there was one on International Drive with 1:18 floor to ceiling, but that entire shopping center was torn down a few years back. International Drive has a lot of small shops (tourist area) so maybe you might find something there that just doesn't advertise much.

Go ahead and check out the largest Hobby Shop, the few left here combine R/C planes and boats with slot cars and railroad sets, but they usually have a Die Cast section.

It will be luck of the draw if it is American muscle cars or Exotics, but I have found a few nice 1/24 Ferrari "kits" that are cars not available in the prebuilt models...Challenge versions, factory specials...stuff like that.

    Good luck.

    Roy,

Other than die-cast dealers set up at flea markets (Flea World), there are very few shops in the Orlando area. Two are pretty close together:

Colonial Photo & Hobby on Mills Ave, just south of Colonial Drive (State Road 50); D& M Wholesale, on Maguire just south of Colonial, near Orlando Fashion Square Mall (the largest die cast collection in the area); and finally, Hobby Spot on Fairbanks Ave, between Mills Ave/ Orlando Ave and Formosa.

As you drive around, be aware that the street names often change when you cross city limits.

D&M does have a lot of Mattel Ferraris in 1/18 scale. If you are downtown, you are welcome to drop by and see my collection.

I didn't know about that place off Colonial. I shot them an email asking if they have a couple 1/18 I'm looking for. Thanks for the heads up!

    Here's their website I found: http://www.bmtradingllc.com/

Edit: Wow, they're only weekdays with Friday being from 10AM-1PM. Hopefully the op catches that place in time if it's the largest in Orlando like Kevin stated.
