Kershaw OUT of Game 2.... ooops. The Dodger plan is falling apart.
I wonder if the Dodgers used up their full allotment of runs last night? And just think if the Rays win it all. Tampa Bay would have won two major league championships about a month apart!
The Dodgers once again fade in the playoffs. Its not just losing -- its the way they lose that is so frustrating.
The Rays are really dropping the ball on this series...they could have had a nice 4-0 sweep and a lot of time off before the series and now imo it looks like they probably won't make it.
Wow...really thought Houston was going to come back in the 9th to win it given Tampa's bullpen, but the Rays held on. Nice to see a mid market/low salary team make it to the WS!
Can the Dodgers pull off a miracle comeback? Is Atlanta's cage rattled? Someone today is going to be a hero. My guess is its Mookie Betts.
WOW I cannot believe the Dodgers won the series against Atlanta. Betts is amazing. He stole a HR in the final game with an amazing catch. Atlanta is one hell of a good team.
Yah losing 3 straight must be really painful. Your team played really well though. That crazy double play with the bases loaded in the last game really hurt them. And there were a couple of other base running errors in the other games that costed them as well. That's kinda how baseball is. You play 99% of the game perfect and then make one mistake and it can be over. One bad pitch, one bad throw, one bad mistake on the bases, one crazy ball bounce, one bad error... poof! I thought by the 2nd inning the Dodgers were going to lose. I even felt that way in the bottom of the 9th. Atlanta is a really great team.
The city whose team will win the Series - in either case - will have claimed 2 of the 4 major North American team sports titles. If the Rays win, and if the Buccaneers could somehow win the Super Bowl, then Tampa Bay would have 3 of the 4! Has that ever happened before?
Yes, 1935 in Detroit. Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers. That's the only one with 3 wins same season. Philadelpia in 1980 had teams go to all four championships, but only won one (Phillies). The NBA championship was awarded in Orlando this year so only 75 miles from Tampa so all 4 could be crowned/awarded in the area if not to a team from the area.
So you can see the story of the year with the Dodgers. If the pitching is reasonable, the offense can save them in a lot of games. If the pitching sucks, they cannot hit their way out of trouble. The problem is their pitching has been inconsistent while their defense outstanding. Pitching is up and down even inning by inning. Over 7 games they may get away with it but its not a good sign.
Thanks for the information. I know that New York had a near miss, when the Jets and Mets both won in 1969, and the Knicks won in 1970. If the Knicks had been able to win a year earlier, NYC would have joined the exclusive club.
OMG --- the Dodgers commit TWO ERRORS in one play with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th and give the game to Tampa. One of the most bone headed plays ever in a World Series.
Unreal. Absolutely unreal. Phillips essentially down for the count and pops a base hit that would have tied under normal circumstances... and two blinding errors to allow the Rays win.
HOLY COW. What an insane ending...never seen that before. Multiple errors and game winning run tripping over himself to boot. What a game!
Dodgers CHOKED because they do not trust their relief pitching because the manager is an idiot the way he runs them.
Entire exchange was outrageous. First Roberts poorly managing his bp. Then Taylor doesn’t get up quick enough, and can’t even make a throw to home from shallow center so he hits Muncy, who in turn made a weak throw left of Smith who appeared to be more focused on Arozarena falling down than he was on getting a chance to tag out. I guess Jansen didn’t feel the need to get his ass behind the plate to back up either which may have given them a fighting chance at the plate. Probably never see a series game like that again in our lives.
I was so disappointed at the Nats short season, I didn't think I would be interested in the WS. I was wrong. This has been entertaining.
I think the Dodgers have to win tonight or they will lose the series. If it goes game 7 I don't think they can keep it together. Relief pitching has been horrible. Most series are won by pitching, not hitting.
I hope your right about that they can't keep it together. Go Rays! Not a Ray's fan, but can't stand the dodgers.
Rays threw this game away as soon as they pulled Snell and put in Anderson who hasn't done much this series but mess up.
