Don’t think it was the naval officer’s salary funding the country estate, Bugattis, gullwing, 911 RS etc that Simon’s father owned… the Kidstons are old money. Edit: I thought they had aristocratic links, but I can’t find evidence of this - but def. old money.
Funny that, an uneducated workaholic spends his /her lifetime making a fortune, sends his children to the finest schools to become Doctors, naval officers and barristers, a century later they’re all broke again in so many cases
The barristers would have done well. The naval officers, maybe. The doctors, not so much*. *Unless they were radiologists
Often the way 1st gen make the money 2nd Gen spend it 3rd Gen are broke. or 1st Gen make the money ....2nd Gen are dopes whom spend it and never achived or are for decades put down by the father whom made the money ...as being useless, dumb, lazy, stupid... Being born to wealth or to a successful father is not always ideal .

Wonderful part of England , St Ive's , Fowey and Newquay (and all those east European mobile brothels )
It’s beautiful, the West Country still relatively unspoilt and the weathers lovely, not to mention the pubs and food
I missed Rick tonight but see that he is on again tomorrow morning. Did he mention about the ocean scientist that recently discovered a deepwater fish made up of only two sodium atoms. They have provisionally named it 2Na. If not it may be on next week.
I've been to the UK just on 10 times in my life , I'm not a fan of larger cities .. but Cornwell,Cotswolds ,lakes District and rural Wales are my FAVs. Yep the pubs and the fish down that end they serve . Where are you from? "mobile brothels in Newquay" its sad as that town is where the Queen Victoria and her family would spend summer holidays , now the town is full of east European hookers drving around in there cars offering sex! I didn't go near the town when we stayed there a few years ,instead a delightful pub on a cliff top ..
I'd be happy to live in England ...but then comes winter ...pass. I've got a Ferrari friend with a delightful home in the centre of Morton in Marsh (Cotswolds) that is a nice part of England .
