It's official. I'm a hater. Today pushed me over the edge. I was a naysayer, but now I'm a hater. It's not that she isn't fast enough. It's not that she is a dangerous back marker. It's not that she is a woman. Today after the Indy 500 qualifying when they were interviewing the pole winner (no spoiler) she was standing behind in camera view. It seemed cheesy. Like she was doing anything to get TV time. Like the Michelin man. She isn't on the pole winners team, there were no other drivers there, it just seemed desperate. Is there a rational explanation why she was standing there? I don't wanna hate.
Actually, that wasn't Milka It was the Izod model they keep parading around. They place her everywhere there is a camera. I guess it's a little like the Firehawk mascot in the costume. That being said, I have to agree with you about her in general. She's a lame duck that is making the whole league look bad. If you look at her blog on her site, she's always blaming setup. Yeah right! Justin Wilson never had a problem with that car. I feel real bad for her team. They are a great group of guys that deserve a much better driver than that. At least she keeps them employed I suppose.
I don't hate her, I don't hate anyone, but I have my opinions as to who I think should be there, and who I prefer to see win, and she is not in any of those categories. Now, if she raced the entire season AND WAS FAST- meaning top-15 fast - I'd change my tune.
The Milka situation is confounding. It's one thing to have a bad session or two and be at the tail end of the field. It's quite another to be consistently last in every session and not make the race only to come back and blame the car. Milka brings Citgo budget, that much we know. But even so, after a while it could be suggested Citgo gets a deserving Venezuelan driver into the ride (if that's what they want) and Milka can be a ceremonial team owner. No hate for Milka but concern she's going to hurt herself or someone else. RM Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can we change this to "The IZOD model always showing up in the TV shots is really seriously beginning to annoy me" thread?
drivers have been compalining of her for ever - I believe her old man own Citgo where she is from - no Milka, no citgo - I don't think he has eve seen her race in person
The little known about Milka is that her husband hangs around in the background, definately not a high profile public image sort. Privately may be a different matter however and therein may be the problem. RM
I don't like 'nationalizations' (er communist forced takeovers) of companies. I remember when CITGO was on the side of a Wood Brothers stock car driven by Kyle Petty and a host of other drivers.
She will be allowed to race until the day she either kills herself or someone else on-track. Sanctioning bodies are in a tough place, and only after YEARS of marginal driving will they ever even consider talking to the driver. Pulling their comp lic? More egregious that merely being a weaving backmarker. CW
She drove a few races for FoW and the only memory that anyone ever had of her was of her chest. I'm OK with that. Though, I wish that (a few years ago and I forget what race it was) Ashley Judd would have done a Danica pit lane charge and had a rain-soaked girl fight with Milka after almost causing a lot of wrecks. THAT would have been something to see.
Venezuela. Go read up on it. 'Hugo Chavez' Call it what you will, communism or socialism, both are about the same to me.
The haters can relax, Milka wasn't fast enough to qualify for the Indy 500. She was 4mph too slow at 219mph...
Yup.. Alex Loyd went out in the same car to "find some speed" in it and came back reported that it was dialed. He also said that he put in a ton of down force in it to make it easier to drive but it was still an easy qualifier. From what I'm told about her driving from insiders, it's not a really a skill issue with her but rather a commitment thing. I guess the proof of that is she's not really a wrecker. She's slow, but consistent. I'm just convinced she's in the wrong series. She had some success in GrandAm. Maybe she should look for other opportunities in other series that better match her driving style. Indy cars aren't for everyone, and that's fine. Some of the highest rated drivers struggle in them all the time. Indy it's self is a beast of track. No shame in that. Of course, there's always this argument: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LXDEPrIr9I
Isn't Citgo the same as Venezuelan Petroleum, aka Senor Chavez? One of the nicest people on the face of the earth?? Wait, maybe I am thinking of Luis Chavez, my accountant's cousin. And why would I hate Milka? She has provided so much comic fodder on many websites, we should all be thankful for her presence in racing. But, before she hurts herself or someone else, she needs to find a better daytime job. She does have wonderful senos.
