We are midway through a euro trip in the 456. Currently in the south of France until Saturday morning. Then on to Spain (Costa Brava, Pyrenees and Basque region). I noticed this crack in my windscreen and wondered whether to get it fixed by a mobile fitter out here or wait till we get home and have it done at a Ferrari main dealer?

If this was something straightforward like a VW, I would probably get it done now, however, I have had problems with squeaks and rattles and leaks on Ferrari windscreens in the past, and I wonder whether I can leave it till I get home to a trusted fitter?

I understand that a new seal and new trim as needed to replace the windscreen, which doubles the overall cost. Anyone with a '90's Image Unavailable, Please Login Ferrari have any experience on this please?

If it were me, I'd keep going and fix it when I get home. In addition to sourcing new trim, the trim needs to be sealed to the windshield with some sealant. The place that did my windshield didn't seal it initially and there was a lot of wind noise, sounded like air rushing in along the A-pillars. After sealant was added, all quiet. In my photo of the original cracked windshield, you can see the sealant along the edge of the trim against the glass. Just adds to the argument to do it back at home. I drove with the cracked windshield for a couple of months before having it replaced.

I hope you’re having a fabulous trip in the 456 and enjoying France!

Back to the windscreen, I’d definitely fix it back home as likely to become a drama if trying to fit around a holiday. I have a similar issue on my 550 (thanks UK potholes) and have been driving it with no issues.

Would be interested to hear/share experience with UK insurance companies and fitters when you return.

Thanks for everyone's support. Ferrari in Cannes can fix the screen for 4,940 euros, which has been agreed by the insurers, but they don't have stock! Autoglass equivalent in France say that can get the screen in 2 weeks.

I will hope that the roads in the Pyrenees don't make the situation worse, Fingers crossed!

Do it at home so it's done by people you dealt with previously and can resolve any issues that may arise.
