Anyone try the Pilot Sport 4 Acoustic tires instead of the Pilot Sport 4S? A 315/35R20 is $180 cheaper than a 4S but the mileage warranty is only 20k on them where as the 4S is 30k.

Just asking as I stopped by Discount Tire today and they only sell the Sport 4S for the front only and the Sport 4 Acoustic for the rears. Seems like maybe they are making a switch to these for electric cars as they don't have an engine to override road noise maybe.

No, since the primary parameter for EVs is range, using a tire optimized for low friction is not what you want in sports/GT Ferrari.

So would the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Acoustic tires be any good for a sports/GT Ferrari as specs look similar? Just asking as I might be new to the GT market or should I stick with the tried and true 4S tire.

Stick to the 4S. The others are a HUGE mistake. If you are peddle down, merging onto the highway, and cross a dashed lane line, the backend will get loose, even at 100 mph. You need to respect the power of the 599 or it can kill you. Putting low traction tires onto a 599 is literally asking to die.

Will do and thanks for the advice and I will stick with the 4S tires based on @tazandjan and @Skidkid advice, I find it odd that Discount Tire is only selling the 315/35R20 in the Sport 4 Acoustic series only no 4S style tire anymore. I guess if anyone is looking for a 4S you will have to look elsewhere like Tire Rack, Costco, even Walmart sells the 4S all are the same price.

Key detail for purchasing MPS 4S tires - select the K1 compound option specifically tailored by Ferrari engineers to suit our cars' suspension characteristics.

The MPS 4S comes in different compound blends: M1 for Mercedes, N0 for Porsche, etc. By "compound blend" I mean that as related to how the various elastomer compounds (for dry performance, longevity, and wet running) are spread, blended and structured on the tires' treads according to tread width or percentage.

A week ago, I just finally switched my '11 599 HGTE's tires to MPS 4S K1 tires from the OEM Pirellis optimized for HGTE cars. The staggered set cost abut $2,400 including taxes, roadside warranty plus the annoying CA State fees. I can already tell it has improved the driving convenience, handling feel with quicker turn in around small or large radius corners.

My advise is to purchase the softest compound available for safer street driving (lower UTQG rating). Mind the old but true Pirelli adage "Power is nothing without control"!

After reading some initial tire comparo tests by EU authorities, the results indicate that the MPS 4S is still superior in dry performance as compared to the upcoming MPS 5 whereas the MPS 5 is better when driving in the wet.

You need to wait until the MPS 5S is introduced. That will be the one for our Ferraris and what I hope to replace my MPS 4S tires with. Many of the K1 Michelins have less tread depth than other versions, but that is not much of an issue for the average Ferrari owner.

Terry, I once read the different tread depths among the K1, K2, and K3 options but have somehow forgotten their variations.

Regardless, pre-pandemic shutdown Tire Rack used to list all three options but nowadays they now only list K1 and K2 as available.

Tire Rack specs list the K1 tread depth @ 9.5/32" for the 245/35ZR-20 size; K2 tread depth @ 9/32" for the same size.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought K3 had the "shaved" surface whereas K1 featured a so-called "normal" tread depth. Other MPS 4S tread depth as specified for same size (without manufacturer designation) were @ 9.5/32".

I just remember that the 599 GTO tires had less tread depth than others in the MPSS line. Have not really looked at it in depth since then.
