I think your head might just block the intake..... and then, there's squeezing into that cockpit itself, but what an exquisite, excruciating drive it would be.

Steve Martin's Cruel Shoes routine come to mind.

I remember seeing a number of Schumacher's former cars at the factory in Maranello. The deal was that they would sell you a car for (for example) $1M euros but the deal had strings attached. The new owner could not change anything on the car and the engine was detuned. They also had contract provisions about resale.

Effectively......you bought it to put in your personal museum.

I'm curious what it will sell for.......although with a sealed bid process.....we may never know.

I remember David Lee saying if you buy one of the F1 cars and take possession of it you forfeit having an engine, and the engine is only kept in the car if you do the track ownership program where they hold the car, maintain it, and transport it to the track for you. Is this typically the case, and would it be the case with this one?

The engine was 100% part of the car, while we had it. It was a complete car, down to the steering wheel.

The question you should ask, is what would it take to actually run it...

THAT , would require support from Ferrari.

The owner who purchased it, signed up to drive with factory support at COTA and other international venues.

I was surprised to see it up for sale again.

It takes at least 20 minutes to heat up the oil. This is not a DIY car.

I had actually read that the 20-30 minutes is for a modern F1 car and the ones from that era could take 1-2 hours. Then again all could be academic if it's not bought with the intention of driving or if Ferrari isn't willing to put together a track support contract for it I presume.

Previous post too old to edit. In regards to my wondering if it is eligible for Corse Clienti program - the auction details state it is.

Moreover, these cars are difficult to drive. The aero effects make the car completely unlike anything you have ever driven. I remember during a Clienti event at Mt. Tremblant, a driver was going in a straight line when he went over a small hump coming out of the southern hairpin. He ended up in the weeds. The entire front wing was destroyed.

Is it because it really needs high speeds and smooth surfaces to operate correctly? And i imagine it would be impossible to get
To tire and brake temps correct??

Don't know. I have a tremendous amount of respect for anybody who can race these cars, even the backmarkers. They are sensitive beyond belief. No looking at phones here!

I saw today a video with excerpts from the 2001 Brazilian GP. To be exact the first ten minutes were from JPM onboard camera and the rest were from around the track. Oh God those V10s.....

yep, I've heard they are a complete ball ache to drive and require a lot of training beforehand - another factor is you can't just drive them slowly to be cautious as they don't like being driven slowly

Yep. Then when you see how “easily” the F1 guys drive them. Amazing.

You buy a complete running car (when you buy it from the factory) you get it handover at Circuito Fiorano and after you are free to take it whereever you want. You can have it in your office or you keep it at the factory. To keep it there makes most sense in case you want to drive it occasionally. You can participate in every F1 Clienti event OR you can rent your own track somewhere in the world and flying in the F1 clienti team to run it. Pre-1999 cars can be run by very knowledgte teams as lots of it is still mechanical. 2000 and onwards requires factory support. V10's are the most powerful, I was present at a recent event where an actual F1 driver drove an ex Schumacher car and the laptimes (on academy F2 Tires!) were not far away from the 2022 F1 laptimes! The V12's are the the best soundings, the V10 the most powerful and the the V8 the most reliable and "cheapest". Since some time Ferrari starts to sell also the V6 Hybrid Models but the maintenance of those models is at another level....

this particuicular ex-Schumacher F1 is eligible for F1 Clienti. You can run it whereever you want either at F1 clienti events or at the track of your choice. you are not allowed to modify, or to put your own design on it (why would you...).

There is an upcoming F1 clienti event at Monza, fancy to beat Michaels Pole time of 2000? here is your chance! :)

Interesting the auction house incorrectly states Corsa Clienti instead of F1 Clienti. Entirely different animal.
