Versailles is an authetic Cuban place full of Cubans, cant get more authetic than that

On SoBe Larios on Ocean is good for Cuban, Its right next to News Cafe on 8th I think

How fancy do you want ? Lime on Alton has excellent MX food but its very casual, shorts, t shirt & sandals

There are tons of great restaurants on Lincoln Rd so you can take your pick

Davids is on Lincoln & Meridien & its another great authentic Cuban rest

Baires grille at Alton & Lincoln is a fantastic Argentine grille w steak better than Buenos Aires, casual but dressy about $50 per person

There are a few Brazilian steak houses too like Porcao in Brickell

Avoid restaurants advertising "Mexican/Cuban" food....same language but totally different cuisine. Versailles is as good bet...lots of local color and authentic Cuban food.

Mango on Ocean Drive is something to experience to get the local flavour.

The food at Mango is not bad and the show is definitely VERY LOCAL and something they do not have in North Port FL. !!

I agree with Puerto Sauga. It's where all the locals go for Cuban food on the beach.
Not fancy or anything, just pretty decent food. Overall the best Cuaban food in Miami, closest to home cooking, is a chain called Casavana. Avoid any Latin American and Carreta restaurants, used to be good but are lousey now. On South beach, there's always Larios on Ocean Drive.

There is a decent Mexican restaurant just south off of Lincoln, near the Sony Building. I don't remember the street, but there is a spinning shop next door. Used to be a Chinese place on the corner of this street and Lincoln, never went, heard it was all transvestites.

Anyone know the name of this place?

Actually, there are really no authentic Mexican restaurants around except maybe in Homestead where there is a small Mexican population. Been going to real Mexico for the last two years, not the Orando on the beach places like Cancun and Cabo, and they do not eat things like hard shell tacos, burritos, frijoles, etc. Its mostly red meat slapped on a small flour tortilla and then covered in some sauce that would kill most people.

I made dinner one time, had to bring the hard shell tacos with me from the states, made cheese enchiladas, chicken burritos and bean tacos. They thought it was interesting.

When my GF and I drive north to El Paso, I always tell her that now I can get real authentic Mexican food at places like Taco Bell.

As for Cuban, Versailles is kind of touristy, there is a chain called La Carreta, La Cassita on Calle Ocho, Yuca on Lincoln, and one my Cuban friends like is Casa Juancho in the middle of Little Havanna. Forget Bongos next to the arena, really terrible.

If your on South Beach, you can't go wrong with Puerto Sauga for Cuban food.

    Cheers
