Oh boy. Time to get the popcorn ready. This should be good.
Just as an aside, in case anyone wants to have a real conversation about Ferraris... There IS one person who DID die in a 250 GTO... Henri Oreiller crashed [heavily] into a building in 3851 GT - it was the only fatality in a GTO during its competition history and i don't know of anyone else that's died in a GTO outside of competition, either... Oreiller was apparently killed by the shifter...
All 36 250 GTOs are accounted for, so far as i know... i don't know about the three 330 LMBs... Wayne...? Erik...?
There's a 412S (known as 412MI in the US) expected to sell for around 7million sterling at the Sotheby's auction at Maranello, largely because it's believed to be the resurrection of the car which crashed during the 1957 Mille Miglia killing both drivers and 10 spectators... For more info see July edition of "Octane"
Just checked, yes, there are 4. 4381SA 4453SA 4619SA 4725SA And I believe they are accounted for, but my details are sketchy on 4619SA...
Hey what are you guys doing having a real conversation about real cars in this thread. That' not what it was all about, or was it????
4m$ for a GTO ? Havent seen a GTO going for less than 6M for a long long time. To answer your question , i dont think so . Unless its way cheaper than the market value of a GTO , i ll wait or make an offer to the reamaining GTO owners.
Why not? You got to refurbish the car anyway if it had been in an accident and once done it would have had no trace of previous accident. But the most important thing is to raise the cash not worrying about that unfortunate incident.
All 36 250 GTOs have always been accounted for. Same for the four 330 LMBs (4619 is not to the same racing specs as the others; it's a long story). The three four-liter GTOs (explaining the 39 number frequently used) are also accounted for. If you want to buy a GTO today you should be prepared to write a check in the vicinity of $8M (or more for a car with a really good history). O.G.
Bwahahahaha. Elkhart in 80's, forget which year, 3 LMB's were there. I have pics. Only car absent was the 4725 LMB. All ran, looked good. IIRC, there is one "250 LMB" floating around, and a couple of Lussos with nose jobs [Bruno Risto sp? in LA had one for ages]. For years Cavallino had 3 listed, or 5, I forget which. Is J-P Cavallier's sp? street version a GTO? Somewhere I have article on that car.
Matt, TX Mike, Karen, PLEASE KNOCK IT OFF. Single thread posts, Vintage prob most appropriate, and baiting one another is dumb. Since Mods don't spring into action over this and MarkPDX is busy with family, etc. I'm asking you nicely. Quit fncking up the board. Lee
