super interresting to see that price are very very good for most of cars...seems there s no restriction over
Ferrari, it s always a good investment.
i m feel surprise for the 250 Gt Lusso 5143 who explose the cotation 480/580 ask and sold finaly for 759K€

somewhat desapointed for Enzo s ....no more 850K€

finaly it looks a great auction. The list of cars with was good, with variety of cars.

The car Stephen Dudley has been racing in the Historic Challenge series. I was most distressed when I saw it was on the lot list. I do hope that the new owner doesn't send it straight off to be "restored".

Does anyone know why the 340 America (Caroz Ghia) went for so much under estimate? Thanks.

interesting the F50 for sale had a top bid (?) of 450,000 euros, which is roughly 675,000 dollars; I wonder why all the F50's for sale I have seen recently in the US are asking 950,000 to 985,000?

    2 factors

    a) US cars are here, and certified, grey market cars only the 95s can be brought into the US at all and mods cost 100K+ (seat belt system, cat changes etc).
    b) The asking price cars haven't sold AFAIK - the market is probably really 750-850 for a good US car, maybe a super low miles car can justify that higher price. RufMD just bought one, I don't know what he paid, but it'd be an interesting data point :)

I belive that SB - the owner bought the car at about 1 mio usd about 1.5 years ago.. the highest bid was around 1 mio usd, suggesting that the market is unwilling to offer free rides anymore. Overall a nice car, but i suggest you read Bill Polak's book "red wheels and white sidewalls", to understand that this car is NOT a race car.
think about 1 mio usd is fair price, but in a sagging market this is a 600k car...

im still waiting for the 750 monza to hit 800k usd on the way down... some days it feels like ill have to wait for a while.

I see the beautiful 250 California went to our very own Chris Evans...radio DJ,TV presenter and general mad as a hatter personality.
He drove past me once down a small country lane in one of his Ferraris...damn nearly took my wing mirror off...:)
Well done for him on getting a very nice example though.

    Dan,

Maybe I'm overly pessimistic (or just perceptive - I will leave that for others to decide), but I didn't see this auction as a bullish indicator at all. 30% of the cars didn't even sell, and of those that did, many were at low estimate. The news I'm getting of the top sale is that the English buyer Chris E is not viewed as having made a particularly astute purchase, but, he has pots of money and (god bless him) with beer in hand, he should bid as he wishes :) we are all trying to find out who the elusive under bidder was, and one hopes for the buyer's sake it wasn't C.Handelier!

Regarding F50s, I think you are correct that "real" trading values are at $750k and little bit more, and at those numbers the cars available in the USA would move. I also agree with Coachi that USA ask pricing defies logic (you can insert the word 'gravity' here also!)

Just because someone has stepped up and paid $XXX for a particular car dos not make it a good deal or well-bought.

Possibly not a good deal or well-bought, but for an instant in time any actual sale better defines the real market value than a seller's asking price or a prospective buyer's whining. ;)

God I love the looks of that Comp Lusso.....

What about that 275gtb 4 cam for over 2 million dollars. That is a record price as well. Anyone know where it went? Last year they were only 1 million.

    I will agree with that.

In fact I will go as far as to suggest that the "real market" has nothing to do with seller's postured ask prices, or buyer's whiny wish-numbers :)
