Well, if you call winning races and regular podiums as evidence of not faring much better then I suppose you have a point.
Yeah 100% agree with this, Mclaren insisted on the size zero concept......also the myth that the Mclaren chassis is the holy grail is a bit clouded, they always tended to run more downforce making the engine look worse than it actually was....Honda have a new team in Torrorosso,an underdog with a new vitality and both parties would like nothing better than to kick Mclarens ass in 2018....let's hope so.
Mclaren chassis improved far better than Honda engine according to Zak Brown. McLaren: Car improved more than engine in 2017 http://www.racer.com/f1/item/146513-mclaren-car-improved-more-than-engine-in-2017-146513
McLaren "keeping an open mind" about building own F1 engine. We're still not scaled, we're not a scale manufacturer yet. But we are keeping an open mind, and look at this next phase of where is Formula One going and is there a chance to use our capital more wisely. But we don't have any immediate plans to do anything other than getting ourselves back into health... https://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/.../mclaren-keeping-open-mind-building-f1-engine-2020/
They can keep an open mind all they like But the fact is it's too cost prohibitive for them Ferrari does it because of a very large revenue stream which MacLaren don't have. Only a very slim chance for McLaren to be a WCC team again unless BMW buys them out - IMO
yep, I agree. Either they tear down acreage next to the MTC to build an assembly engine plant for production and F1 cars or they buy out an existing engine builder and have them trucked in......both of which are way too costly for Mclaren at the moment.
