Agree Ferrari doesnt care. If only they did they wouldnt be losing F1 and many of the traditional motoring enthusiast customers. What they are knocking out now are mens hand bags. And very heavy ones.
I remember when the big three hybrids came out. Keyboard warriors would argue relentlessly, even when an owner of all three would chime in. These jokesters would have the gall to tell the owners THEY were wrong.
I have no doubt that the 765 will be epic. It's purpose is to be used primarily on the track where it should be at the hierarchy of performance among super cars. However, for those who rarely or never plan to race it, the 720S or F8 will prove more satisfying as a road car. Personally, the sound I heard in the 765 video, is extreme in volume but unpleasant in tonality.
could you please direct me to these journos. I’d like to read their opinions so that I can know what to think about the car I own and have put close to 6000 miles on. Thank you.
Opinions depend on many things obviously but this has been pretty constant criticism of how Mclarens drive. This is just the latest. Please don’t shoot the messenger Image Unavailable, Please Login
Do you even read what you post? You might want to reread what he wrote about the “standard 720”. Not only does he think the 720 is a great car- what difference does it make what he thinks. You have myself and GH here both owners of the car telling you what an amazing car it is and rather than open you mind and listen to the probably over 10k collective miles we have on our 720S, you post some journalist who has maybe 25 miles behind the wheel. I’ll remind you neither one of us is a one trick pony. Porsche, Mclaren, Ferrari are all in our garages.
Here we go as usual. You asked me mate, I took the time to show you and now you attack me? GH has been on ignore for a long time in any case for this same attitude
First of all I didn’t attack you. Second of all the journal you quoted had good things to say about the 720. The third I’m trying to tell you someone who has 10,000 miles collectively under their belt in a car I will give you a better opinion of the car then someone who has limited time behind the wheels. You tell me that journalist are saying that the 720 is a terrible car and then proceed to post a journalist who says the 720 is a great car. Must be a full moon out tonight.
That’s fine by me, as I already wrote I don’t criticise how they drive as I’m sure you have a much better opinion than me in this regard, although one can argue you have a little bit more of a vested interest than any journalists as you have money invested in it. What I criticise mostly is the way they look, some of the engineering, their marketing and how the company has been run. Everybody’s opinion on that is as valid as anybody’s else imo
How pathetic of an existence to be so hateful and full of crap? Then he runs and hides like a little baby lamb. Just plain sad.
Dollar for dollar I don't really think there is a car that can come close to a used 720S. That's just a fact. Stop the Mclaren hate.
Vested interest? I dont own stock in Mclaren or any portion of the company. If I didn't like the car, I would sell it and tell everyone about my poor experience with it. Ive done that before with cars I didnt like. And as far as criticizing how they drive, that's exactly what you are doing by attempting to quote a 3rd partys experience. And no, not everyones opinion is as valid. Some opinions are completely uninformed.
You’re misconstructing my posts again. Why do you care so much of what I think if you like the car and my opinion isn’t valid for you? Just put me on ignore Enough strawmans for today
No one should need or feel compelled, to offer justification for their preference of any car. Ultimately, all that matters is that the car(s) one owns brings them joy and satisfaction.
Well....just so ya'll don't jump on me..I have never driven a 720....I do not fit. My best friend has a 720S...damn it's fast! I know full and well I do not fit in the 765 either....so I do not care...oh wait...I actually do care and I really want to know how the 765 handles a road course....not drifting around the course like Chris Harris does, but ultimate grip!!! I care what it's 1/4 mile time is too. So I will wait until someone like Randy Pobst drives the car and gives his thoughts. I will wait till on one show up to Sebring for a track day with a great driver and see how it does. As far as my preferences....I love Porsche GT cars, their durability and how you can adjust on them from the factory with out much fuss. I love the seating position in Porsche's as well. I love the looks of Ferrari's though. I am enjoying my 1st Ferrari but wish for many other things with it. I am not a car snob I appreciate a lot of various cars for what they are with price vs performance, build qualities and looks. I see why many others have and love other brands than Ferrari.
I love the others and enjoy the variety but boy its hard to beat the GT Porsches. Those weissach engineers have set a very high bar.
But this would have applied equally. On the second race the F8 also clearly got the jump but still got reeled in. It's clear the 720 consistently out guns the Ferrari in general conditions. The only car that has successfully managed to take down the mighty 720s was the 992tts coupe where it consistently beat it. Again in general conditions - not drag prepped conditions. The 992tts cab otoh did not fare as well.
Ahh. I would think the F8 would be comparable, doesn’t it best the pista slightly? Or did factory protect pista?
