What kind of material is used for original bumpers coming from Ferrari factory with car? I thought its fiberglass but today i had discussion with one guy, who told me that all fiberglass bumpers are just copies. I checked mine and its fiberglass with Ferrari logos (inner side) on it. He says i dont have originals, which is hard to believe for me?!

Those are original bumpers and they are made of fibreglass, I've worked on a few of them. :)

He told me that he owns several Ferraris 360, 355 showing me also some pictures.... but i was confused by lots of his words. He said he owns 360 from 2006 (i believe that 2004 was last year of production, etc.) He just checked my bumper and told me immediately that its fibreglass and therefore it can not be original factory bumper, etc.... He said that original bumpers are made from kevral. He actually wanted to buy the bumpers ( i am putting CS ones on my car) trying to push me dramaticaly down with the price with the comment that its not original, etc.....- i did not sell them to him. I thought its bull****, just wanted to make sure :))

    There were a few MY 2005 360's.

I was told by Dave at Premier Motorsport that the 348, Tr,512 bumpers were fiberglass. He says the 360 is a composite material very much like fiberglass but not actually fiberglass.

The 360 has fibreglass bumpers fitted from factory - period. The factory bumpers and side skirts are ALL fibreglass.

Even on the 360 CS they are fibreglass (using RTM technology to reduce weight a little). The only exception to this that some Challenge and N-GT cars had carbon fibre bumpers and skirts (to massively reduce weight). On a standard car the chassis frame (by Alcoa), the doors, front fenders/wings, the roof, the front trunk/bonnet, engine lid and rear quarters are all aluminium.

I have a 2001 360 coupe. Last year I installed a K-40 Laser Jammer in the front bumper by cutting an opening large enough to just hang the unit down right about at the molded in joint in the center air passage. First off, there are no fibers as in traditional fiberglass and resin layers!!! There is only white material (resin? or moldable compound). I bonded a aluminum bracket to the inside of the bumper with resin.

    Good Luck with your project!!!

This white stuff you refer to, I was told was the composite material that fills the bumper. I'm just relaying what I was told!!!

Not sure what project you're referring to? !!!

I bad, that reference was for masar who started this thread.

I assumed that you were going to do something to the bumper (mod?) and wanted to know what type of material the bumper was.

Thanks for info. My point was that i am selling my bumpers (not mods) and one buyer came to me with object, that its not original since its fibreglass and he was pushing me down with price. It actually does not look as fibreglass at all, but as i checked screw holes from license plate, there is insides someting white, which looks (the structure) like fibreglass. Anyway the bumpers have inside Ferrari badges, etc. , i believe its original.....

I had mine off twice, as you know, and can tell you they are without a doubt, fiberglass.

    Petr,

I knew you'd appreciate the quality. I actually went down to Pro-Sport Ferrari today to see how my car was getting on. Mike & Roy had been fitting the full titanium strad suspension to my car so I am enjoying watching it all come together. Also saw they are nearly finished in perfecting the manufacturing of the rear diffusers and strad yellow dials for the instrument clocks too so they will be available soon as well (call them and pester them!!! lol). I'll definately have to buy both of these products too.

Enjoy your stradified 360, Please post some pics asap!!!!

    Regards,

    Trev

Its just unbelievable what are you doing with your car - it will be a jewel.

Its pitty they dont have the diffusers right now, i ordered them from Imola and want to pay and pick up them next week..... The yellow dials sounds interesting as well. I will post pictures as soon as i finish the car, propably begining of March. Its now disassembled in my garage since i also clean all possible parts i can. I just hope i will put it together somehow :))

    Regards
    Petr
