WOW !!! Nice Article (should of been Larger) in FORZA #72. Vitals: 755 HP, 2,535 (Dry), only 12 will be Produced !!! Price: a Cool Million. Whose In ???
Well I just looked up pictures and read the article. Pretty interesting. 1,000,000 Euros, 12 units, and not street legal? Sounds like the big brother of the FXX. Does not look half bad though. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No - they are making 15 cars: 12 customer-cars and 3 protos! 4 cars had been sold to Germany. Ciao! Walter
It definitely IS the little brother -- The FXX has more horsepower (isn't it over 800?) and costs nearly twice as much ($1.8M vs $1M).
To correct some thing: The MC CORSA is the logical development to the FXX! Set-up of the car is far better than with the Ferrari. Just talked to an owner of the FXX. He said that the car is great but not very effective from the aerodynamical side. He also ordered a CORSA and can`t wait to get it. The CORSA got experiance development from the MC12 racing, successfully entered in the FIA GT-series. The only competitive genes the FXX has comes from the Ferrari-badge! The FXX is nothing more than a useless toy! The CORSA is more or less a further development of the VITAPHONE-MC12`s with components illegal to the rules in the FIA-GT-series. Ciao! Walter
Base Price: 2005 Ferrari FXX - $1,773,000 / 1,500,000 € http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/ferrari_fxx.asp The first MC12 Corsa will be built next autumn and will cost 1,000,000 euros ($1.2 Million) http://autoreview.belproject.com/item/69 MC12 Corsa has 755 BHP @ 8000RPM FXX has 800 @ 8500RPM I would take the MC12 over they FFX why...because they basicly both have close to the same amount of horsepower, the MC12 costs 500,000 less euros, and its looks alot better than the FXX IMO.
It's the usual joke - Ferraris "must" have more power than Maserati. How ridiculous. When will the slick Armani-suited marketing goons learn that EVERYONE can see through this crap? Fortunately it won't take two minutes to re-program the ECU to get those 45HP back where they belong, and I sincerely hope that all MC12 Corsa owners insist on it.
....and this will never change as long as Maserati is under the FIAT-wing! Ferrari was, is and will always be more important as Maserati as they are very successfull in making cash! And the beat goes on: you will always read in the mags that the Ferrari 430 has a great engine and the Maserati Grand Sport has an engines based on a Ferrari unit! This idiots always forgett, that this engine was used much earlier in Maseratis before it went -slightly modified!- into the 430! Ferrari is the howly cow of Italy - but I always grin, when I hear that another car with a bull in its logo killed this cow......! Ciao! Walter
To me it's a Enzo with a horrible body kit, a few more BHP, and a extra charge of $750,000+ !!! and who knows what kind of buyer premiums people will be charging for these FXX's. Wow look at this one it has a premium of almost 1,000,000 Euros!!! http://www.thecarexperience.com/ASS/94/FXX.htm
Maserati MC12 Corse Communique What Maserati is faster than an MC12, more powerful than an MC12, and even more exclusive than an MC12? The Maserati new MC12 Corse! This recently introduced model is closely based on the MC12 GT1 race car which swept away all competition to win the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturer's Cup and is well on its way to defending that title again in 2006. The MC12 Corse will give owners the opportunity to experience a full-blown championship racing experience every time they strap themselves into the cockpit. The MC12 Corse uses a 755bhp variation of the MC12 V12 engine and competition "ground effects" aerodynamics, as well as a fully adjustable rear wing. The MC12 Corse is priced at approximately $1.2M, and while not homologated for use on the street, it will be available for sale in the US. Maserati is one of the very few marques that can successfully sell million-dollar exotics: the original European-only street version of the MC12 sold out the moment it was announced, so prospective MC12 Corse clients are urged to act quickly. As is fitting of the name, only twelve MC12 Corse cars will be sold worldwide. The fortunate 12 Maserati clients who attain an MC12 Corse will be invited to special track days arranged by Maserati, and will have the opportunity to enjoy their cars at special Maserati events throughout the world. Maserati engineers and designers will monitor use of these very special automobiles and obtain valuable information to help improve the next generations of Maserati road and racing cars. Each MC12 Corse will be delivered in Maserati Victory blue, which flashed first past the checkered flag so often in the FIA GT series. Like every other Maserati the MC12 Corse can be factory personalized to the taste of its owner, within the constraints of a cutting-edge racing vehicle. The MC12 Corse program is one of many examples of Maserati's commitment to the passion of motoring, the definition of quality, the pursuit of excitement, and the needs of its clients and is a fitting celebration of the Trident's dominant return to racing. I am not so sure it will come only in the Blue Victory colour. I expect some owners to order it in different colours. BTW last sunday, during the Italian GT's last race here, which saw the MC12 PlayTeam SaraFree VIN #12102 becoming champion (a sidenote for Walter ), i talked with a guy at Maserati Reparto Corse ( i already met him in May). The MC12 is highly limited, they dynoed that engine with no restrictions and .... The results were simply impressive! The power they got was something very close to a F1 car! And we're talking of a non-turbo engine. But i have another example: during the last Mille Miglia, i talked with John Hannan, who happens to own both a yellow Enzo and an MC12 (#19406). His opinion is the MC12 is simply another world, he prefers it, better ride, great downforce, a little bit tricky but an unique experience. The electronic is not as intrusive as in the Enzo. I personally prefer the Corsa to the FXX, you have the chance to drive the best racing car after the McLaren F1 GTR/LM/whatever.
Alveng, IMO the FXX is an ugly duck compared to the CORSA. I think the dark-blue will be the color with most cars. ciao! walter
Hi Walter, I think that this issue is a bit "offside". Let's see, tastes are tastes and we must agree with all opinions. I've seen the last FXXs during a factory visit last May/June, I can tell you that the FXX is an amazing car, by far, more better looking live than photographed. It is, indeed a technological package. I think, no other car is/was so advanced in this issue. I do think that it is a "toy" but not a useless one. Imagine doing part of the legend, imagine "racing" such a special toy under the Ferrari direct sponsorship? I can't think of much better things to do on the weekends. But than comes the MC12 Corsa, in my opinion not better looking nor uglier, just different. Like the Enzo and MC12. The MC12 will be even more "spicy", it has a racing pedigree. The horse power is not an issue here since it reaches the max. output earlier than the Enzo, so it is a false question. The price tag reflects the different approach on the use of the MC12 Corsa. I was told that the "racing" program will be different so it will be the Maserati sponsorship. So, give me both!! Walter, I can not imagine Ferrari without Maserati and Maserati without Ferrari and I can not Imagine Fiat without Ferrari/Maserati and Ferrari/Maserati without Fiat, not on these days. Not anymore. I own a Maserati Shamal, and I've been driving Maseratis for the past 7 years, they are in my blood. I work on both brands - Ferrari and Maserati - I love working on both. They share almost everything. They have different stories to tell for sure but I think that the past shouldn't cross with the present and future. I'm glad Fiat bought Maserati in the 90s, they saved it from the end. For me Ferrari will always be the flagship, they are top of the tops, Maserati is on top of the range but incorporates the racing heritage of Ferrari. So they are diferent. Regarding the engine on the F430, indeed it is a Maserati engine but made in Maranello. Designed there, manufactured there and developed there. So, it makes it a Ferrari engine. I know that Ferrari made this new engine regarding its future Modena replacement car. It was installed in the 4200 Gt because the biturbo technology was far more expensive to keep on working with. On the other hand the synergies between both houses should involve similar engines. In the end I love them, they are my life and they both give me hours of intense driving. Regards, Mont
one of our partners can offer a street conversion for the MC12 CORSA. the costs should be around 50k-70k EUR he told me
The official name will be Maserati MC12 Versione Corse. Will be shown at the Motor Show in Bologna, from 7th to 17th of December. And I'll be there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the MC12 is heavily restricted to race in FIA GT series, and originally raced with an exemption because it doesn't comply with the rules. If that's the case, the extra power allegedly developed by the Corsa version will be purelly academic on the track, since it will be restricted even further. I don't think that the MC12 can be entered in the ALMS, the LMS or Le Mans itself, where they strictly enforce FIA GT rules. It's a great pity that this great car (and make) can race in these events. I undestand that the MC12 is 2" too wide, and with a rear wing 1/3 to wide to comply with the rules. Any idea if this is true?
