Man, thoughts and prayers for the Officer... Facebook is blocked here, where's the pic of the perp from Facebook???
http://www.theeagle.com/police/Warrant-issued-in-Maserati-patrol-car-wreck[/QUOTE] Well at least she might have an idea what she's in for now.
Couldn't find a facebook link, here's a new video. Don't know what it shows because it won't load here. http://www.kbtx.com/news/headlines/81099007.html
She works as a bartender, you would think she might have a bit more common sense. What a shame someone so pretty can do something so ugly. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is very sad. She's so lucky she didn't kill anyone, let alone herself. Hopefully this will help her realize to slow her life down.
Now, I may be way wrong, but, it seems to me I've seen those pix before... on this site. If so, then the Maserati could belong to a Member. Either that or that size of chestsicles are standard equipment and the pose is de rigueur.
don't worry, it's not your eyeballs - it is truly fuzzy 21, booze, apparent idiocy and stigma of diving a "fancy car" equate to a bad situation hopefully the woman officer will recover completely and this 21 yo idiot will spend 10 years in the slammer - perhaps this will teach her (Ford) peers what can happen if she works as a bartender and was working that night and the first call came in to the PD at 2:28 am it makes you wonder if she was drinking on the job or just chugg-a-lugged the booze after work (as I recall most bars close at 2 am) - one would assume that she's no longer employed at that location another BAD rap for sportscars - damn good thing she was't in a Ferrari Carol
Someone in Houston IS missing that Maserati......one of the articles names him, from the paper plates. Ease up on all this...... There's LOTS of drinking that goes on in College Station, both A&M and Blinn Colleges, but let's keep the LEO in mind, they do a good job trying to keep everyone safe. Funny that last article says charges not yet filed, and earlier one cited a Warrant for her BAC levels.... We'll see. Those are about the 'standard size' for College Station.....ooooh rah!
http://www.kbtx.com/local/headlines/81178732.html A high-performance sports sedan driven by an alleged drunk driver crashes head on with a College Station police cruiser leaving the officer seriously injured. An arrest warrant for intoxicated assault was issued for 21-year-old Alex Ford. She's been upgraded to good condition Monday at the College Station Medical Center, while the officer she collided with has been upgraded to fair condition. Although initial reports stated that Alex Ford, was currently a Houston resident. Monday we're finding out she is more familiar with this area than first thought, and even had a local address and several local ties. Long before driving the streets of College Station in a white Maserati, friends say Alex Ford walked the sidewalks at Blinn College. Ford enrolled at Blinn in the Fall of 2006 as a Criminal Justice major. School officials say she changed her major her second year to English, before leaving in the Summer of 2008. Outside of the classroom, friends say Ford worked at several College Station bars. Early Sunday morning, it was near Northgate, that police got the initial report of a white Maserati speeding, and driving recklessly. Nearly 30 minutes later, and a couple more miles down the road, a second call came in reporting cars racing near Eagle Avenue in College Station. Officer Tracy Sheets was responding to the call when the Maserati struck her patrol car unit head on. Police say Ford was behind the wheel and speeding at the time of the crash. Following a blood draw, a warrant has been issued for Alex Ford. She faces charges of intoxicated assault causing serious body injury to a peace officer. Officials say that charge is considered a second degree felony, and punishable by two to 20 years in prison, and a fine of up to $10,000. Meanwhile, a friend inside the car at the time of the crash, tells News 3 that Alex Ford did not own the Maserati she was driving, but that she had borrowed it for the weekend. Police say temporary tags on the car are registered to a John Jackson of Houston. Anyone wishing to make a donation can contact Patrict McCarthy at 979-255-4887. He's the president of the Police Officer's Association. He'll make sure the funds go to Officer Tracy Sheets' family.
I believe that EVERY headline/article header in the local newspaper has included the name Maserati to identify the incident. There is an overwhelming component of belief that a young person is driving a really expensive car (and that is what is really wrong) and has a wreck, yet the 4 yr old car is probably worth less than half the SUV's these college kids are driving around the area and crashing with regularity in similar alcohol related accidents. It is certainly worth less than the police cruiser costing $63K. What is unique here is 1) Maserati 2) hits police cruiser head on. Alcohol related wrecks resulting in injuries involving expensive SUV's is common and does not, of course, garner this kind of attention. Underlying issues are the same, though....... I avoid driving my Ferrari in that town. The few times I have, the number of idiots in pickups and Mustangs/Camaros/etc. that feel compelled to race through traffic to pull alongside, snapping phone pics and revving engines in an effort to try to get a reaction is unbelievable. At least ONE such incident like that happens almost every pass through town I make, especially after 10 PM Thursday thru Saturday. Hell, one night around 10 PM, I had someone in a pickup with a outside speaker system and mic start talking at 110 dB from behind me saying that he liked my car so much, he thought he would just take it away from me. He had 3 other people in his pick up and they thought it was cool. Pretty stupid behavior and a little intimidating to my wife and me considering the road where we were, which was only 2 blocks from the thread titles incident, was dark and at the time, relatively abandoned. I pretty much stick to driving in the country exclusively, which was what I bought the car for anyway.
Yea- the prominent mention of "Maserati" wreaks of sensationalism. It's obvious that "drunk former collegiate coed in her Geo Metro hits on-duty officer..." quite doesn't have the same eye-catching headline appeal, nor does it let others insinuate & generalize. Hence why we don't see the mention of such, if it was the case (ie. her driving a nondescript, hohum make/model). I guess a sign of the times, not just w/ the press/media but also the general readership/populace. . .
Driver of Maserati (Alex Ford, 21) was alleged to be travelling 80 mph in a 30 mph zone, lost control through a bend and hit LEO car head on. Maserati driver's blood alcohol content? .164, or twice the legal limit in Texas. She now faces 3 felony charges related to intoxication assault. The officer suffered broken ankle AND broken pelvis and had to be cut from the wreckage. Numerous other injuries to passengers in Ford's car, including broken ribs and collapsed lung, broken arm, etc. Maserati driver's admission of beverages consumed before the accident? 7 total consisting of: 2 lemon drop shots 2 beers 1 strawberry pucker shot 1 blue dolphin shot 1 red shot Then she allegedly climbed in a car and started speeding all over town, picking up friends along the way. She (as well as her friends) would likely have been much better off staying at her apt, smoking a big doobie, ordering pizza in, and playing Forza 3 on the ol' gamebox.....assuming that she just insisted on breaking at least one law for the evening. BTW, outside of the beer, I have never actually had any of those other cocktails, but they sound like something perfect for a person addicted to night-time cough medicines.
Your knife would be considered an illegal weapon in the state of Texas, and can be confiscated by the police. However, your gun, if licensed and you are in posession of a CHL, is fine. Go figure.
Huh, I clean deer with that knife. Carry it around routinely when hunting, never had anyone even begin to call it illegal. Every other landscaper in Texas carries a couple of machetes......they illegal too?
I asked my police academy instructor about this aswell concerning the fish fillet knife I carry in my 4Runner and yes it is an illegal knife. This is were the officers discretion comes into play such as if the illegal knife is on your person or within arms reach because then it can be seen as a weapon.
Yep, go figure. I've carried machetes under my truck's seats for years so that I could cut brush when I needed it, gone through checks in and out of border areas and never given it a second thought.
