NIce article - just with "current price range they are wrong. A really good example in Europe is at least 130k EUR these days. No way to find anything reasonable for 70k... Great car, maybe one of the greatest we have seen in these 125 years of the automobile.
Yep, nice shot! But -please- lets focus on photos from the 1969-73 period here. Many thanks! Ciao! Walter
Hello Walter, You probably made a typo: 1969 instead of 1966, but what are you trying to bring across? The thread was started on the iconic Ghibli not to be confused with the later re-use of the name. Regards, Bart
Bart, Yep, a type - I understand that this thread is focussed on photos from the period of 1969-73. Ciao! Walter
Walter, ... which means photos of period 1966-1973 Ghiblis, not (necessarily) period photos of 1966-1973 Ghiblis... Gabriel
Thanks Gabriel, Walter, you post pictures of later dates as well when you broker cars 363 and 432. So I guess you mean: If anybody has old pictures, please share them? It is a pity that Ghibli subjects are spread over different threads. Now a lot of valuable and interesting info is difficult to retrieve. Ciao, Bart
This 1967 Ghibli is now back in Norway after extensive restauration to a very high level in Italy. It's an early car with the various unique features of the first series of Ghiblis. Sorry about the quality of the photos. Why do people with "high end restorations" end up with red spark plug wires. I see this all the time and it looks so wrong! Folks please use the correct Cavis spark plug wires, which are readily available, and leave the red and yellow wires to the American muscle cars. Ivan
Hi Walter, Yes, the car was red when its was acquired by its current owner, Bruno Bardelotto, about five years ago. I believe it now has its original color. Gabriel
Hi Ivan, "readily available" being where? I've checked several places without finding anything and was about to order a custom set from Magnecor. The main problem seems to be that the cable holders (that screw onto the cam covers) are permanently installed (please correct me if I'm wrong), at least as I've been told I need to order a set with the cables pre-routed through the holders (since with the boots on, they won't fit afterwards). Cheers, Thor
Well, I do not want to be too picky but when I look at the pictures I see a nice car with a nice repaint and a nice retrimmed interior. The engine bay looks cleaned up but not restored. The wrinkle paint around the spark plug holes is repaired not repainted properly, the alternator support should also be wrinkle painted. The fans should be at the front of the radiator on the early "2plug hole" engines. These early cars did not have the electronic ignition either. The Ghibli script on the trunk lid should be on the right and the Maserati name is correct on the left. A real nice car and I am sure that it will be a good driver BUT a high end restoration has to fulfill other criteria to me. Some days of precise work will do miracles under the bonnet, sorry, hood. Regards, Bart BTW: Ivan, I have seen real late Ghibli that was fitted originally with red plug wires, like Khamsins.
Here's a pic of my '67 Ghibli at a 'cars and coffee" this spring in Great Falls, Virginia. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fantastic car! Saw it at Karenslyst Alle a few weeks back, I think - sorry for the drool marks on your hood
Hi to you All, Sorry to interrupt, such an interesting conversation about my favourite car. I am currently finishing the restoration of a 4,9 SS 1971 (# 115/49.2234) after 3 years of a very hard work. The car was in a poor state, the roof of a garage had fell on the Ghibli's roof. So when I bought the car the previous owner had already began its restoration with a spare broken Ghibli (luckily I had a lot a spare parts, and still have), the VIN # was AM 115/49.2050 I still have the original plate. My Ghibli was originally celest blue with tan interior, but such in a poor state, The Black Leather interior of the # 2050 was brand new so I decided to change the colour into a kind of "rosso rubino" a little bit lighter. I hope the car will be completely finished by next spring for a Maserati Rallye in Europe. The site is very interesting and I am enjoying reading it Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

stumbled on to this lovely example in Benicia, CA this past week Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's not just the color but I like using real wire instead of resistor type of wires... which I believe the originals usually were... don't use the radio much....
I have the Cavis wires. They are solid copper core. The spark plug ends are screw on type with metal heat shields....very exotic you know! Just sayin. Ciao, George
