Good news Pirelli have just delivered a fresh batch of tyres for the 250F https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirelli-collezione/stella-bianca.html They have done the 550-16 again which was predominently the front tyre. The rear tyre varied on the 250F depending on a variety of things but we do have the 600-16 Stella Bianca on the shelf currently. Hopefully 650-16 will follow soon.
Question is now: are the PIRELLIs better than the DUNLOP Racing that are used normally in hist. racing? Ciao! Walter
Well for now i think if you are doing the proper historic racing you need to fit the Dunlop racing at most of the events where these cars race. if you want to pressurise the FIA to get them to allow these proper period original equipment tyres that would be good. I mean they do allow some other budget tyres at some race meetings. I am in may way supportive of Dunlop Racing because they do make the full range. and more importantly the compounds are a good way of leveling the playing feild in a grid that might scope 10 years of cars. However it does urk me a little that for this period of cars Dunlop make the wrong tread pattern for the period that the tyre size determins the car is from. 1940s and 1950s cars would fit 16" (maybe 17") wheels and the R1 tread pattern https://www.borrani.com/dunlop-tyres/racing/r1.html The R5 tread pattern that they make all their full profile 16" tyres in didnt come out untill 1958 https://www.borrani.com/dunlop-tyres/racing/r5.html which is when cars started moving onto 15" wheels etc However the other tyre brand they now sometimes allow is totally made up. So why not allow the Stella Bianca. It is actually pukka
