Searched and didn't find a thread about this so apologies if it's a repost. Quite an interesting project. https://www.instagram.com/p/CnhYfuir9wG/ "The team at Modificata are ready to show the world a very special project - or perhaps we could better describe it as 'Speciale'. We tend to prefer analog over digital for our vehicles, but in this case, there's no denying that the numbers tell the story best. Subtract two paddle shifters, add a third-pedal, and substitute the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with a manually shifted six-speed H-pattern. Then cancel out a substantial amount of weight, and you have the formula for the latest creation from Modificata. This undertaking has been a real labor of love for us, and make no mistake, it was a long time coming. For all the challenges we faced along the way, there is no better reward than the Italian symphony of 9,000 RPM and the metallic click-clack of a gated shifter." IMHO it would make more sense (if any) on a Scuderia, since the DCT is about the best feature of a Speciale... But of course anybody could decide what they want with their cars.
Beautiful looking project. Having had an F430 manual and now a DCT 458, I don't think I could shift a Speciale quick enough to take advantage of its increased power. I'm curious how this works on the gearbox. At least with the 430, the gearbox is the same for either the F1 or manual. What about traction control system, is that maintained or bypassed?
My understanding was that this was a project that the OP found and was posting. I took this as it was open for a variety of opinions. If it was the OP's project and OP was posting it to share I would not have commented if I did not have something nice to say. So apologies if I got that wrong, if not I stand by my comment.
The only thing better than this would be if Ferrari never stopped making manual shifters What I wouldn't give to drive it 100% yes
Yup, I have zero affiliation with this. Just saw it online and figured it would be worth shining a light on. So it's open season for comments
Has anyone seen videos, of the car actually running, driving, no lights , shift action? I remember EAG had posted something similar a few years back and then it all died down. I just can't imagine how this would work, its not like this is the single clutch F1 Gearbox, this is a dual clutch DCT..did they put a totally different trans in it? either way even if it was functioning is this something that can be mass produced or just a one off project? will be interesting to know details
This is a friend. of mines company. Super awesome guy if you follow some of his projects. Most of them are 355 based as those cars were where the passion project started. He is a Ferrari professional driver and this is the company he started to do some really cool stuff. Very cool project for sure! I only know a few details so sharing wouldn't do the car justice. Maybe he will get on here and share more info. Doing a conversion on a 458 is and has been on my bucket list for quite some time. Hopefully I get around to doing it one day.
My gosh- I'm on record as not being a big fan of manual conversions but good lord that is just sickly beautiful- And the concept of being able to have something as damn near close to perfection as a Speciale with 3 pedals and a heart-stoppingly beautiful gated shifter is just insane. Yes I know people will say it's slower and people will say "why ruin a Speciale" and those points are valid but being an owner of a gated 355 and 458 Spider I always say the only thing that would make my 458 "better" is it was a gated manual- so have to apply the same rationale to this. Cheers
As a Speciale owner, this is blasphemy and a complete atrocity! As a die hard petrol-head, I’d jump at the chance to drive this beast… it must be glorious, assuming it does indeed work as we all imagine it should work like.
As per their Instagram post 'Video coming tomorrow.' It's tomorrow where I am! Wanna see So since this didn't exist before, ie, Ferrari never made one, is this a conversion? Or a creation?
Unbelievable...looks like they actually did it...i don't even see any warning lights on the dash... hats off to those guys .
