We have a local wheel shop that I used on 308 wheels in the past that looked good, but I don't have that car anymore.

I talked with the shop today about the 355 wheels. They only do powder coating and state that they powder coat 2 to 3 sets of magnesium wheels per year and have never had a problem.

The wheels get baked for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. I've read the threads here and still don't know whether to go with this powder coating route.

They also use some sort of acrylic media blasting in the process.

    Is this ok ???

No powder coat. People do wrong processes all the time and say it's no problem. The workshop manual has the wheel refinishing steps laid out pretty well.

Fine if they know what they are doing.

My local guy specialises in magnesium rims and has an amazing amount of rims, swing arms and components through his door.

The guys you are talking to don't sound like experts, so I wouldn't.

Either find somebody who specialises in magnesium rims (cant help you on your side of the pond) or just have them painted.

Your local Ferrari dealer should be able to assist with this request. I've had several sets of challenge wheels done without issues.

Thanks again Dave. I had read that last week. I know my wheels have been refurbished by a prior owner.....who knows if it was done properly. One wheel has a "alligator" spot about the size of a quarter though. The rest looks fine but not the new wheel bling I'd like.

I also read the WSM on the subject which looks tedious to say the least. Looks easier to buy a new set of wheels.

I don't believe they are available or I'd probably have bought a set by now. I've been through the refinishing process and the guy I selected blew it big time. More due diligence on my next selection.

There's a set of slightly used wheels on ebay that look great if you got $5,600 burning a whole in your pocket. I don't know who to get locally, if anyone, and don't have the energy to ship wheels off. I guess mine are fine for now.
