    Hello all,
I acquired a Sep 2018 Lusso yesterday, and so far love the car.

I’m in the UK, and roads are wet and dirty. Windscreen got filthy, so i pressed the windscreen washer button (once I’d located it on the steering wheel!) and it worked….. but also activated the headlight washers that sprayed the headlights for quite a while. The headlight sprayers also managed to cover the whole bonnet and roof in washer fluid. Every time I sprayed the windscreen the headlight washers activated, covering the car. I’m fussy about my cars, clean them most weeks, and don’t want the paintwork covered in messy cleaning chemicals. Is this normal, for the headlight washers to activate every time? Also, can they be disconnected in the settings? If not, has anyone disconnected them another way?

Seems like a pretty bad flaw to me, but i can’t see that anyone else has mentioned it on the forum. On other cars I’ve owned the headlight washers only activate occasionally. Surprised they even have them on a Ferrari tbh. Easy enough to give the headlights a wipe once in a while.

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Congratulations! My car does this too. I try to never really pull the washer toggle-- instead I try a very very quick touch to get just a little spray on the windshield. I prefer it to having windshield washer all over the front of the car. Its one of my only annoyances with the car.

If it’s wet enough or your windscreen is dirty enough to need the wiper wash, the chances are that the rest of your car is pretty filthy too so it’s going to need a clean whether it’s covered in washer fluid or not.

if you’re worried about the washer fluids affecting your wax or ceramic coating then try to use a washer fluid which is kind to your chosen finish.

Should only turn on headlight washers when the headlights are on.

Try it in day time to see if it changes or try turning off the headlights.

So the why is because it has to comply to the law… there is an ECE regulation that states lights greater then 2000 lumens have to have washers… because when dirty they create more glare.

This article may help explain a bit better than I could:
    https://www.carlightblog.com/2013/10/22/a-clean-beam-the-purpose-of-the-headlamp-washer-system/

The reason you get a car wash when using them is because they also have to work when you drive fast [emoji23]… and a weak jet would not work.

I do believe also that they do not go off when you lights are off too as already mentioned… will have to give it a try.

Probably also an Italian way of saying don’t take my car out in the rain and dark [emoji23].

Hello everyone, it's my inaugural day here, and this is precisely why I decided to join. I own a GTC4 and take immense pleasure in keeping her in pristine condition. It's quite frustrating when a spontaneous car wash engulfs the entire vehicle just because I'm trying to clean some dirt off the window. However, after perusing this thread, it all makes sense! I'm eager to give it a shot without the headlights on; it could be a game-changer! Wishing you all a fantastic day!
