which "stiffer" AFCO springs did you find best? I believe you did both F/R correct? ...why did you change to hypercoils? How do you find them in comparison?

    REAR 600 LB 8"

I think HC has a better product ....

SSR... are those specs for HC or the AFCOs? Were you having issues with the AFCOs or just wanted review something else? What are the primary differences between the AFCO vs HC?

DJASTRAL69 ....is that lowered on OEMs or did you go aftermarket springs?

GCALO ...did you keep the rears OEM as it sounds like you only did the fronts, correct?

    THX ALL!!

OEM springs, I have done this on two 360 Spiders with no issues what so ever. Again, 8 front and 10 rear to get the vehicle level otherwise it has a rake if you do 8 turns all the way around. Look at my photo and that is 8 turns, 10 in the rear will bring the back down just enough to match the front.

you have to use a spring compressor and spanner wrench. Once you've loosened the first nut you can dial it in. Of course you have to do an alignment immediately after...;-)

What does "has a rake" mean?

touch higher in the rear than the front. Look at a stock 360-430. Both have a rake to the stance. i prefer my vehicle(s) to be level for center of gravity purposes and a level look to it.

No problems with AFCO at all,if your car is a 2008 and lower normal 430 you can use rear 10" if is a 2009 or scud you need 8" rear and a custom made spring spacer like 3" tall.
I noticed that with HC corner weighting is more precise .

Be very careful with the shock threat they are made from alum and with the dirt and sometimes they come overtightened from the factory and if a threat is hurt you will have to send the shock to a machine shop to remove the collar nut and repair the threat and get a new shock collar.
So I recommend to remove the shocks and go to a susp shop and borrow a wall spring compressor to loose the shock collars with no spring pressure at least the first time when they have more presion.
Like before mentioned these are the spring rates I have found in different cars:

430 OEM springs inc spiders,3.5 finger gap 4X4 F look!
    F 330 lb
    R 520 lb

Scud Ver 1 OEM springs 2 finger gap
    F 330 lb
    R520 lb

Scud Ver 2 OEM Ti springs 2 finger gap
    F 400 lb
R 520 lb (with prog springs, spring rate here is +-)

So if you want to lower this is my chart.
    For 430,spider,scud any version use:

-1 finger gap use 450 front 600 rear (this is the lower I will go)
-2 finger gap use 450 front 600 rear (if your roads are fast and big bumps or depressions on the road)
-2-2.5 finger gap 425 front 575 rear (if you have very cool and flat roads)

    AFCO,Hypercoils,Eibach linear springs work ok.

    Setup:
    Front
    Camber 1.8 - 1.9
    Toe 0

    Rear
    Camber 2.0 - 2.1
Toe 1-2 mm diff per side

Fill up the tank install 75 kg per side and corner weight check tire pressures.

For the bars in my previous 430 I installed rear Novitec and front OEM in the scud I use OEM bars and 430 Challenge adj bar end links.

    i have a new2me 04 360 spider -pics soon :)
I know that I could probably get away with stock springs but given that the local dealership is quoting $1k lowering/with alignment (is that reasonable?) I am tempted to get a stiffer spring from the outset. Are there part numbers for the AFCO/HCs?
    TIA!!!
-its amazing that all my recent cars had to be tweaked2 PSS9s on 996/m3/c32 etc.... this one would have probably gotten away with just a lowering (and still Might!! LoL)

1k is too much,360 or 430 suspensions are very simple and easy to do compared with other cars.

$1K is way too much. the AFCO front springs are about $135.00 delivered for pair!

so what is a 'reasonable' price for spring switch/alignment?
also, might you know the exact part #s for the 360 in the stiffer springs (AFCO and/or HC) and would I need any additional parts for seating them on my 2004
    TIA :)

AFCO P/N: 23400 is a 400# spring and it measures 10” in height.

    OEM is about 9.5"

No this is for the fronts only. AFCO does not have a spring that works for the rear at this time. If they had enough orders they would make them but I doubt they would have the orders.

I may have another source for the rear springs, and those are a higher value as well.

Use Hypercoils 10" front 400-425 or 450 (for very low cars)
Use Hypercoils 8" rear 575-600 (same) you will have to do a 2-3" inch Nylar spring perch or also called spring spacer.I have this setup in my scud and works super cool.

SSR, what AFCO Springs did you use for the rear? GCalo mentioned AFCO#23400 for the front (10" w/400lbs rating). DId you use the same?

AFCO does not make springs for rear. They no longer make the front springs
Stand by because I will have springs for the rear

Once again AFCO no longer makes the AF23400 springs I had used.

I made contact with the person I knew there, and he confirmed this fact.

There are a few pieces floating around in a few inventories, but that's it.

The rear springs are completely different and much higher ratios.

Always a good idea to use the same make springs all around to prevent unusual oscillations

I have sourced a maker to do the fronts and the rears to my specs, and I will have those in a while.

The purpose of what I did was not to lower the vehicle but to get better front end stability which the springs did.

There is a huge difference in lateral stability (YAW motion) with these springs installed.

Ferrari does a great job for the average driving applications, but the cars can use improvement

What spring rate did you go with front and rear? CS spec springs?

I wanted to get new stiffer springs for my car but didn’t want to spend $1000 on Novitec or have to lower my car too much
