Ok so I can shift with the car off. However when I turn the car on I can’t get into any gears. Think I need to do a better flush and maybe flush all brakes as well. I may have an air pocket.
Annnnnnnnd I’m out of brake fluid. Don’t think I’ll have time tomorrow so maybe Tuesday. Don’t want to put exhaust on until I make sure clutch shifts.
YES, like to hear music when you push the clutch pedal how does it feel? strong from beginning to the end? before you flush again push the pedel several times and leave it for a few seconds. then do it again several times. if there is somewhere an air bubble this buuble will out out the over the mastercylinder into the reservoir. this air bubble problem you have sometimes when you try to bleed the system only by the pedel and master cylinder. or you push the clutch pedal several times, then stay on and an other will open the bleeding screw. do this several times, but don´t forget to fill up new brake fluid into the reservoiur, otherwise you will start again. don´s ask me why I know
then just try the first suggestion from me with pushing the pedal several times and hope it will bleed automatically backwards no need. the fluid for the brakes goes out of the reservoir down, for the clutch about in the middle of the reservoir
Clutch feels solid all the way, hard to say how it always feels since I don’t remember. Bled it by having the wife pump 3x then hold and I opened bleeder valve. If I put the car in first gear and turn ignition over there is no lurch forward. If I slowly let out clutch car rolls forward and stops when I push the clutch back in. I’m afraid to try and force it in gear while running as I don’t want it to go flying off the lift.
then I think you forgot the 3 spacer shims or put in in worng way/side what I told you before installing the clutch. here not 1/100 count but 1/10 the clutch not separated total and so you cannot put in a gear but when you have in a gear and start with a pushed clutch the discs rotate but the car is to heavy to move
From the time Shamile listed his car until the time it sold, approximately 7 months went by and 2,000 miles on the odometer rolled over. That’s not a timeline and usage level suggestive of someone dumping the car because the diff was failing.
you're right about that and if that’s the case then I amend my suspicion to be unlikely. I still believe my other opinions and think some monetary gesture on shamile’s part toward the buyer would be honorable. I know if I bought this car from a dealer I’d be suing.
a dealer has a lot more to lose in a fight and will be more willing to compensate you for a problem. a private seller has some buffer as it's not really their problem anymore.
sorry, I mean what the law says in the country where the seller is living, because I think that this will count. and the law is not equal all over
I put the shims in, they were the thick washers right? There were more than 3 of them, they were on every stud.
Not entirely true. Being in the legal field I have handled cases in CA where parties have successfully won cases against dealers and private sellers in automobile purchases from out of state sellers. Obviously, they were high end/collectible cars and worth legal fees.
In my experience, this is due to "misrepresentation" which comes under "fraud" or "not fit for purpose". If the seller makes a claim, and if that claim can be proven false, then there is legal recourse.
Misrepresentation. In general: a representation was made the representation was false that when made, the defendant knew that the representation was false or that the defendant made the statement recklessly without knowledge of its truth that the fraudulent misrepresentation was made with the intention that the plaintiff rely on it that the plaintiff did rely on the fraudulent misrepresentation that the plaintiff suffered harm as a result of the fraudulent misrepresentation
BTW, this car was represented as being in "Concours Condition" https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/91-testarossa-red-tan-82-900-00.606011/ From Hagerty: #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best vehicle, in the right colors, driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the vehicle has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. The one word description for #1 vehicles is "concours." The word "Concours" appears in the original post four times.
