    got some tickets tonite.

    1) passenger side rear brakelight not working
    2) no license plates displayed
    3) driving with expired cali license (i had a cali license b4 i changed it to a ny license cuz i moved. so i had to surrender my cali license in order to get my ny license)

I showed police officer my brakelight was working. He thought my eurofog driver's side rear light was the brake light (and there is no eurofog passenger side rear light in the Mercedes). The cop still wrote me up for broken brakelight.

About the expired cali license, i used to have one before i moved to ny. now i have a ny license. cop is telling me that if u are driving in cali with an expired cali license, the cop can impound your car (which he didnt tonite cuz he said its cold out and i had kids in the back).

of course the entire time im not rude at all and just talking to him like he was my homie.

now i need someone to take care of this B/S. can anyone recommend anyone?

Dan Baldwin totally TCB'd for me in the past. Kicked the crap out of the cop.

I've heard great things about Dan Baldwin, too. He's first on my list for my next "doozie".

I've used these guys in the past for speeding tickets:

Took a helluva long time, but worked great. I also heard good things about these guys from a friend that used to work at SP:

Generally speaking, though, my advice is to fight the rear fog light ticket. Clearly, the citing officer was not familiar with California vehicle code (Division 12, Chapter 2, Article 3, Section 24602) On the no plates ticket, I used to get that once a year. It's a fix-it ticket. (Throw them on the car, go to the police station for a visual inspection, then pay the $30 fee or whatever it is. Then pull the plates again.) Also, why'd you give up your NY license? :) There's no reciprocity with CA!

I agree with the others. And the tail-light should probably just be a fix-it too, I think.

But why did you show him an expired CA license? Why not show the valid NYC license and then never mention that you ever even had a CA license?

Also, how did you "surrender the my [SIC ] cali license in order to get the my [SIC] ny license" and yet still must have had the expired CA license to show the officer, with you? That's confusing...

i did not show the cop an expired cali license. i showed him my current valid ny license.

(i did not mention to cop i had a cali license before. he was the one that found out by pulling it up in the computer)

I'm guessing he pulled you over for not having license plates? That's a hard one to argue. The other 2 are false.

He pulled me over first for believing my passenger rear brake light was broken, as this was his first sentence he told me.

All Merc's have the one sided rear fog lamp, so that should be easy to prove, when I saw your car it was new, so why do you need plates?.
As for the licence, check with the attorney.

So you are inferring that; If you move to NYC, get a valid NY State license and don't bother to maintain your old California license, then you cannot come back to California and drive your car without potentially getting a ticket for an expired California license you no longer posess, if you get stopped by a police officer?

Is that what you're saying happened?

If you explained this to the officer, and he still wrote you a ticket, when you povided him with a valid NY license, then I would gleefully file a counter suit, go to court and ask the judge for punitive damages for unlawful detainer (he detained you longer than he needed to), false arrest (I haven't worked on this stuff for about 10 years or more, but IIRC technically when you get a ticket you are "arrested", charged with 1 or more counts [20100A? or 20000B, one is license and the other is reg, and I forget which one is which now...], which is then filed with the court on the docket, which is filed in the County court and the bail you pay on the ticket is for your release), hareassment, and anything else my attorney could think of.

    What nonsense!

Yes that is EXACTLY what I am saying and inferred from what the cop told me.

Cop made my wife drive the car back home cuz she never had a Cali license before (only NY). The cop also asked for her drivers license too when she was in the passenger seat.

these 2 cops were playa hatin mofos

A couple of questions to clarify some points. Are you living and working in California? Why no plates?
