    I just don't like the leather seats as my car now has 34K miles and the threads in the bolster are becoming worn out. Seems like I am the Karate Kid as far as applying leather cleaner and conditioner. Plus, it feels as if the foam is starting to give way and any lumbar support is non existent (I weigh 200 lbs).

    Has anybody taken their seats to an upholstery shop and had the seats completely redone? If so, can you tell me;

    -what kind of material did they use (I would like to keep the tan color and texture of leather but not use leather)

    -what did you did you do with the head rest as I would like to keep the Ferrari symbol

    -how much did it cost?

    Thanks for any help.

    If you don't plan on using leather the only other alternative I'm aware of is vinyl and quite frankly in a Ferrari would be a horrific outcome. Definitely spend the extra money and get them recovered in leather. Finding a good upholster is going to be your most difficult task. Definitely research whoever you plan on having re-doing your seats otherwise you could be sorely disappointed. I had set of Porsche 928 seats redone in leather and for both front seats was about $4k. I would think you will be around this ballpark depending on what kind of seats you have (Daytona option?).

    Leather is the way to go. I think you have to go to vintage car shows in your area and ask around for who does the work. If there are any restoration shops in your area go and talk to them. You cant restore a decent automobile without a good source for this work. There is no way that an old school leather craftsman is going to have a website. I would think that even a yellow pages listing would be pushing it for marketing!
