    Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase my 1st Ferrari of which I have found an example meeting my budget, however, I wanted to seek advice aswell as seeing if any of the previous owners are on the forum:

The car is currently advertised by Sasso Automotive in Beverley, Yorkshire.

    Link: https://sassoautomotive.com/arrivals/ferrari-458-italia-4-5-f1-dct-2010/

    Registration is V888RAR

458 Italia 2010 in Rosso Scuderia, which having viewed twice now is in fantastic condition for its age and mileage being 30500. Checked windows, panels, arches etc, all of which were original and undamaged.

It's had full Grey Paul service history, however, a gap of 2 years during covid due to not being used and in storage. The mileage had only changed circa 100 miles during the period and has just recently had a £5k service completed by Grey Paul Nottingham (Engine gasket, new pads all round and fresh fluids).

I asked for a PPI to be completed of which it was identified that the car had a modification made to the exhaust (Yet to confirm on Monday with Grey Paul), but nothing else was found to be at fault upon inspection. Therefore, they will not warranty a Power warranty, but did suggest a WarrantyWise option which they said is more comprehensive to the Ferrari offering.

    Few quesrions I have:

    • Does anyone know the vehicle on the forum?
    • Is there anything I should be aware of in terms of it being a 2010 model
    • Anyone else here have the Warranty Wise cover, any views on them as a company

    Many thanks
    Tom

Welcome - try to understand the exhaust mod as I suspect an official warranty would be better - it may be a simple correction

AFAIK the Warranty Wise policies will only pay out a maximum of £10k per claim. This was enough to decide me against getting one and to keep a slush fund instead.

I'm waiting to speak to the Grey Paul tomorrow to get the full detail on the modification to the exhaust, but its apparently costly to put right based on what the dealer advised.

The warranty is being paid by the dealer as part of the purchase, I obviously just wanted peace of mind given the car has been stood a while which is more susceptible to faults.

So, GP Ferrari advised the exhaust system is aftermarket, not if it was the full system or just components.

Everything else on the car was spot on.

My only niggle is the gap in service history from end of 2021 to February 2024. Given its only done 500 miles between this and sat in a garage, would this be enough to put you off purchasing given it's had full GP Ferrari servicing from new.

Does any know if its possible through the car to see if the mileage stacks up? I'm sure somewhere said the TCU logs mileage

I know this to be the case with Lamborghini, not sure about Ferrari though. Either way, you would need access to Ferrari diagnostics in order to check this.
