The previous owner of our Maserati Coupe installed 3 aftermarket amps in the trunk, they work ok but there is a horrendous whine that comes and goes -- the whine is there even with the radio off because the amps are wired after the radio. The unanimous opinion on the Maserati forum was that a good shop can fix it by installing line filters or otherwise diagnosing. Does anybody know of a shop to recommend in NJ (preferably somewhat close to Montclair)?

    Thanks,
    Peter

That's my car, they did great work. nothing damaged or scratch. Product on console on top of a magazine as not to scratch anything. These cars are not easy to wire and I like the fact that they took everything apart to wire it correctly.

And they did mind me visiting to check on thing

The finished product may have come out good. But I agree a photo like that is not very flattering of the shop and I would never post that on the web.

ok who has a interior cover to lay the tools on, like a fender cover raise your hand ????? should they leave them on the shop floor where the grease is ?? or just bring the whole tool box into the car ? every install has it's mess
watch whips on tv there projects look just like this mid way through it is the end result that counts and that's why shop owners have insurance for, i believe the photo is trying to convey how in depth they get for a clean install you want !

yea no i get it, but we could all tear apart anything anyone else does because when it come's down to as owners of our fine car's we want perfection just as the next fine car owner does ..and depending on what your wife or wallet will let that person afford will be the quaility job they will get....... and donjuan the owner cleared up the photo of his car already !
wasn't mocking installer's in any shape or form.

We do. We use fender covers, seats covers and floor mats on all cars. Saying that "that's why shop owners have insurance" is like saying you can drive like an idiot since your covered. Plus any shop worth it's salt doesn't have grease on the floor.

IMHO the details -- I.E. protecting the car from damage, keeping tools off the seats, etc. is what seperates the average car audio installer from the professionals. There is a reason shops like AI Design (Tuckahoe, NY) command the level of respect they do.

Looking at the installs that 99% of people post I could tear apart a million things that they do that I find unacceptable. Mounting speakers directly to metal (a HUGE no no), tools on seats, not soldering, etc. We have a standard of installations that we strictly uphold and adhere to. I believe in giving my clients what they paid for and then some.

    Just my 2 cents.[/QUOTE]

    Carl ,

I understand what you are saying sometime I think Ferrari owner are overly picky. Sometimes you need to tear down the vehicle and its ugly.

The guys at CSA Audio in Montclair (high end home audio) recommend Zippo's in Belleville. I've been planning to check them out but haven't made it there yet.

Thanks Jeff, CSA is a top notch place so I'd tend to trust their recommendation.

I did take it to Motor Werks in Lodi and they did a great job. Basically, whoever did the previous work had the best of intentions with 3 amps including some tiny cooling fans for 2 of them, but their wiring left a lot to be desired. The power and signal cables routed together, and the cooling fans were completely unnecessary. Anthony's team sorted everything out -- removed every bit of wiring and replaced it with new wiring and they removed 2 amps to simplify the system. The end result is that the whine sound is gone, the overall sound is much better, and we get a lot of (the already limited) trunk space back. I now have a spare Kicker 850 watt 2 channel amp and Memphis 150 watt 2 channel amp I'm not sure what to do with.

Moter Werks was professional throughout, let me exactly what they were going to do, called with status updates, and stayed late on a Saturday to get it done to accommodate our schedule. You never fully realize how annoying a whine noise is until it's gone -- it's a whole different experience driving the car now. Thanks for helping solve this Anthony.

    Peter,

I'm glad to hear that your happy with the work we performed. More importantly I am very thankfull for the kind words. So often in business you only hear people's complaints and the praises often go unspoken. Thank you again and I do appreicate the business.

Enjoy the car and the new found driving experience, sans engine noise!!

    Anthony

You can't access his website because he couldn't pay the bills and had to switch names to Mobile toys.

He can have a clean shop because he has no cars in his shop. How many magazines and trophies has his installs received? Hummm

    So BEWARE!

Excuse me? Where are you getting your information from?

Mobile Toyz is NOT affiliated with us. We sold our second location about 2 years ago and they changed the name to Mobile Toyz.

Find a single person who I haven't paid my bills to and I'll give you the keys to the store.

    No magazine articles? No trophies?

If you changed your name why are you still using Mobile Werks logo?

Perhaps you are unable to read correctly.

Mobile Werks in LODI, NJ -- this is MY STORE

Mobile Toyz in LITTLE FALLS, NJ --- was, at one point, called Mobile Werks. Is now called Mobile Toyz and it is NOT affiliated with us.
