...you lovely, lovely people. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Toronto-Guy..I know who you are...you had better quit while you are ahead..before I tell the full story..I would love to share my experiance with you about Ferrari of Ontario..but I will only share it with a real buyer. You my friend are the poser you keep talking about. Prove me wrong, I'm waiting.
I'll patiently wait, Tom. Unlike someone in this thread, I am off to the cottage, but I'll have the tan, the hangover and the pix to prove it. I'm looking forward to an anti-climactic conclusion to this thread. And, hey, if I called it, the beer's on me! Back in a few days!
If this actually your comany, you should take your own advise.... "Abusive or Harassing Conduct Prohibited. Let's see...choice between a 35 year old Daytona or a new 430? I think the choice is clear, the Daytona wins hands down. One who says used Ferraris are for posers is a poser. The 430 will drop like a stone while the older cars have nowhere to go but up. I don't see the 430's being invited to Pebble Beach. Tom, let's hear it...who is this joker?
The thing is even in a lowley 308 GT4 I don't feel like a poser. I'll tell you why. They made just over 2000 cars from 1974-1980. How many 430's will they make in it's production run? My car and the 308's were the 430's of its day. In fact I heard of a guy who traded a comp Daytona for a brand new GT4. The difference is when the 430 depreciates to the level of the GT4 there will be thousands of them around while the early cars will be even more rare. I don't find modern Ferraris to be as "hand made" as the early ones and they don't sound anywhere near as good IMO. I'll take a set of webers any day over modern technology and computers. The only exception would be an F40!
Well detectives, here are some of the clues: He refers to his car as a Porsche. Does anyone know anyone with a P-car that doesn't call it a by it's model/config designation? Like, I have a '98 993 cab? He gets better forum action on the 'Porsche board'. What might that be? 6speed, one of the *Renns*, Pelican, FCO? No one refers to any of them as the Porsche board. Where could he go with that attitude without getting the snot flamed out of him? He just sold 'one of his companies' and has more dough than he could spend in a lifetime? Uhh, ok. I know people who actually have lots of dough and I can't imagine any of them ever saying this. If he has this dough, why doesn't he simply pay the vig and have one in the garage in his big house in Waterloo? I have lots of dough. I can't imagine ever having more than I can spend in my lifetime, let alone this month!! His attitude and the manner in which he relates to others screams immaturity. My guess: 17 - 23 years. I know 15 year olds on this board who are way more mature. Dude, I was born and raised in Waterloo. You reflect poorly on my hometown.
I have lurked around this forum for a long time. Found it in FORZA magazine. I find the members helpful and tightknit and am learning a lot from them. I don't post as I have nothing helpful to contribute. But THIS guy? Rude, opinionated and actually quite funny. I see him insult the forum and half it's members openly and in the next post ask for help as if he never said anything wrong! IF he DID own this so-called company, I'm sure with his attuitude that 'if you don't drive a brand new exotic you're not worth his time' his employees must have rejoiced!!(When he sold it) I could not see someone with this attitude having much loyalty. Personally even if I DID have the money for a newer F-car, I PREFER many of the older cars. I actually find the Enzo quite hideous though I'm sure if I were to attack someone for their opinion to the contrary I would RIGHTFULLY be corrected for attacking another member's opinion. ( I do quite love the F40 though....) But that's my point. There is a mix of members here and tastes and all share a love of Ferraris. Some like certain models and hate others. That's OK. Toronto Guy would buy a car to show off his wealth. Many of us buy a car because we love it. It would seem that would be the biggest difference. This fellow also seems to take great joy out of attacking other member's educational level. Attacking a 15 year old is quite the cheap shot, especially when reading some of HIS posts can be painful in places. I am assuming english is NOT Toronto Guy's first language. I don't say that as a personal attack, his posts just read that way. He calls members here posers, etc, compared to other boards. Hmmm. Benzworld is a great forum yet a LOT of thier members indulge in "netspeak" and "gangsta" crap and tend to bring down a great forum. Many threads are unreadable due to this. Bimmerfrum is much better this way yet still has it's problems. Kill stories that read like a "Ricer"'s wet dream. And yes, the Porsche foruims I've read are quite well run too. ( So I can actually agree with him there! Yet as mentioned above could not see his attitude tolerated there either!) My point is not to bash the above forums as I love them dearly. My point is that in general, I have to wade through a LOT more B.S. and childish posing to find any information. Yet HERE, I find helpful information and friendly attitudes. I find a forum where a 17 or 15 year old can join and get support for their dream rather than be run off. I thank the members of FerrariChat for an enjoyable experience. I'm sure Toronto Guy will be back to flame me and will get quite a laugh out of it. I grew up in Forest hill here in Torontoand have worked around various companies here including Weston's. For this individual to even put himself in such company is laughable. george and Hilary Weston are two of the nicest people you could meet or work for. The type of people who have monmey but do NOT see the need to "lord" it over others. No I do NOT know them personally but have worked close enough to see the type of people they are. Among the wealthy as anywhere else, there are good people and bad. the bad tend to be disliked and convince themselves others are "jealous" yet the "others" don't really care. I've worked around these people and find them quite funny. Take care everyone and thanks again for a forum where one can be comfortable.
Tom..... You should tell us everything......guys like this need to get their balls busted in the open.
Den..Welcom to the board..and a good first post. KDS....Hows it going? Hope all is well..anyhoo..seeing as he is off to the cottage, I'm gonna wait until we hear back from him. I really want to see his comments and his defence. Hang in there folks, we'll get it done.
tbakowsky. Thank you for the welcome. Like I said. I find this a great forum and hate seeing trolls (Thouigh I guess he's more of an a**hole than a troll.) show up and ruin it for people. I've seen too many good forums go that way. Though you guys seem to keep it under control QUITE well!! I know in our general "Automotive" hobby there is a perception of Ferrari owners as an elite bunch of prats who go to Concours events and pose around their cars and generally treat other's as beneath them. Unfortunately this guy seems to not only believe it but is trying to live up to it. (Though apparently only with NEW Ferraris!! HAHAHA) I like FerrariChat because it helps destroy this myth. I find the members here very down to earth and if I ever get a Ferrari would be PROUD to be part of it!!!! I also find few posers (if any) and part of that may be because of the fact that members accept us "dreamers" and don't say "Who the hell are you? you don't OWN one" and respect the dream so people don't HAVE to fake it. Just my opinion. There are people here with a "little" money and members with a "lot" yet NO ONE says "I'm better than so and so because I'm richer." These are just people that are here for the love of the cars. the passion. Who in some cases love OTHER cars too!! LOL. Car people, Ferrari people, but most importantly, PEOPLE!! Ferrari's weren't given to us by God, they were given to us by Enzo! And they're not exactly GIVEN to anyone!! Heehee. And Enzo could be quite the character, couldn't he? Like his cars, moody and interesting. Either way, being lucky enough to own one doesn't mean you have to be ******! Aw geez, off topic. Sorry. I guess now I should post an intro huh? Where should I do that? Here? (Canada section) or general? Again, thank you for the welcome. It just reinforces how I feel about FerrariChat. Den.
Good observations guys! I'm a scientist, I should have pointed this stuff out! Yes, this guy seems pretty immature to be a creator of a huge sucessful company. I deal with these upper, in ups of the company people everyday, in fact I'm one of them, and I must say this guy seems to be more immature than my grandson! Oh dear. One thing I noticed when i came online today is that Toronto_guy posted basically all of yesterday. During work hours! I post during work hours as well but not too often. It's called coffee break. I'm sorry but if you can post all day during a work day and your supposed to be some big sucessful business guy you're doing something wrong. Even the huge business types that I know that have nothing to do with their days don't spend it on the computer, they are either at the country club or golf course! But yes, I would like to find out what this guy is all about too. I'm curious!
You just KNOW this guy is going to tell you he's independantly wealthy and does not keep "office hours" right? LOL. He DOES seem to be trying AWFULLY hard to shout "I'm rich, I'm rich, I'm RICH!!" AHAHAHAA!!
My 430 Spider came in at $322k plus GST. MSRP for a F430 Coupe, 6 speed is $251,595, F1 is $269,258. Options range from $22500 for Ceramic brakes, fender shields $2,077, Challenge Stadale Rims $3,230, Hifi sound $2830 ...
Most of the Rich guys that I know who have actually worked hard for their money, never spend endless hours discussing their wealth instead of enjoying what they've saved up! I am an engineering student but anyone with just a single clue about Canadian universities would know that the Best IT guys come out of Institues of Technologies not Waterlo!!!
