i have a lot of these models, and they currently reside in their original burago and hot wheels boxes, and my wife is unhappy with that.
i was recently in one of the ralph lauren flagship stores, and he has 1:8 (i think) models of his collection, displayed in very nice plexi glass boxes on wooden bases. does something like this exist for the 1:18 models, for a reasonable price somewhere?

This is the company I have used in the past, you can contact them and they will create a custom case to your specification:

Model Car & Acrylic Display Cases | Carney Plastics, Inc.

I've had them do multiple cases in different configurations and been very happy with them every time.

These people are first rate...their cases are very well done, top quality acrylic and fabrication. I am very picky and they do not disappoint.

Buy Acrylic Displays | Shop Acrylic POP Displays Online

They will also do custom work, speak to Stephanie Cox

I got sick of dealing with hobby case makers. FWIW

And reasonable prices equal poor quality

You can also try Pioneer Plastics as they make a wide variety of display boxes for all different scales. If you order by the dozen the prices are very reasonable.

I believe those are BallQube display cases. Dimensions at their website are Width: 10.25" Height: 3.6" Depth: 5". They do keep the dust away.

Those dimensions are a little to small for 1:18 scale cars. BallQube website show a 1:24 scale model for this case.

I'd say they are fairly well sealed... not much dust accumulates on them. but there will be a little after a year or so. I just use a mini duster and over most of them, then polish with Zymol quick deatailer.

They are just Rectangular boxes - not sure what the actual name of them is, but they are easy to find at the Container Store... they have larger ones I use for 1/12 scale - I think they call them "Large Doll" boxes... I also use the one for football display for larger 1/18 models ...

I also use the 1/18 boxes as risers for 1/12 scale cars so I can fit 2 1/12 scale models in one large box... I think it looks pretty good too!

I picked the same BallQube display case in the Toronto area from Storage Solutions for $11.99 CAD. As you see, the box label says "RACE CAR DISPLAY".

I can confirm the interior length (width) of the case is indeed exactly 10.25" but unfortunately, that is just too short for a 1:18 LaFerrari, and you can forget about FXX K (and the Enzo, FXX, MC12...etc). I can't understand why people insist on cutting costs so close that they end up missing the target. Our business world is being run by too many accountant types. Thank god we still have our Fcars!

(UPDATE: The BallQube display case is apparently only designed for 1:24 scale models so my comments about accountants at BallQube was unfair... but I'm surprised they picked 1:24 scale instead of 1:18).

I might have ordered a whole bunch if they were bigger but I have to say custom-made is the way to go.

Yes, you were absolutely right and unfortunately I missed reading your earlier message. :(

The BallQube case is fine if you just have a few smaller cars like the Tipo 61 shown below but it is not a complete solution if you have or will have larger cars to display from your collection.

I'm going to check into custom-made solutions like the ones from the supplier suggested by PeterWPro.
