Hi guys, I'm an '01 360 Spider F1 owner and have had the car for about 13 months.

My car is in for service for another week and I've been trying to find a way to get my production date online using my VIN. I've been using the search function for half an hour but to no avail. I found out how to decode the VIN, but not how to find the production date. Were it not after hours Friday night, I could call and ask the shop but I didn't think about it when I still had time!

Is there a site where I could go figure that out using my VIN??

    Thanks in advance
    Marc

I don't think production dates are put out by Ferrari(unlike Ford and Corvettes) there is the ID plate on your car that tells you the month and year but not the day.

That's correct. The date of production on Ferraris is limited to the month and year. Unfortunately, there's no way to determine the date of production from the VIN.

The production month/day/year of my 328 was specified on the color certificate I ordered off the Ferrari Owners site.

    Sweet, thanks...!

But outside of paying for that certificate or knowing someone at the factory, finding out the exact date of production is very hard.

Bullfighter, do you happen to remember where it is on the Owner's site? I'm on there now and can't find it...

Edit: I found it and entered my info. Did they send you a certificate or did you download and print it?

Do the S/N's go in numerical order? I.E. 23202 would be produced after 23198, is this correct?

Aside from the fact that even-numbered serial numbers weren't used on road cars (except the Dinos) until serial number 75000, which means 23202 and 23198 don't exist, yes, serial numbers go in numerical order. So, 23203 was used right after 23201. However seldom are specific Ferrari models run in serial number succession. Additionally, in a few cases over the years, some serial numbers have not been used right away. Some serial numbers are held momentarily; some serial numbers are unused for years.

OK, would love to get one of these for my car. The car number is the VIN? How many characters do I enter all 17?

It depends how old your car is. It could be the last 4, 5 or 6 digits - everything after the leading zeros

In your case, it would be the last six.
