If you - HRF68 - are serious, then synchro's C&F Dino deserves top consideration. I have seen his C&F up close many times and it is as close to perfection as you can get.

    Welcome,
I love all those Ferraris, they've been investment grade since I've started watching the market 30+ yrs ago and open top is the way to go!

One suggestion, since it seems we get to dream here, why not seek a 330 GTS over that 275 GTS?
It has the improved torque tube mount between engine and transaxle, more power, and they built half as many so it is far more rare.

Thanks for allaying the suspicions of several of us that HRF68 was a "dealer" or a 12 year old trolling through the 206/246 section, as has happened in the past.

this car has been sold and is with a great new owner who will take care and preserve it. it is interesting, he has a restored C&F dino already in same colors . the interesting part is all 3 people that were serious about buying the car were in the same position. all 3 already had very very nice restored examples and wanted to "upgrade" to an original car.
anyway, he got a wonderful example maybe the best one out there, and I hope he enjoys it

    General Information

Today, if someone says the name Ferrari, the image that comes to mind is a sleek, mid-engined supercar. Examples could be a Testarossa or an Enzo, but for a long time, there were no mid-engine cars in Ferrari’s line up. That is what makes the Dino such a special car, as it was the first mid-engine car from Ferrari.

First seen as the Dino Berlinetta Speciale concept car, Dino production began in 1967 with the 206 and evolved into the 246 in 1969. Small and lightweight, with fully independent suspension and disc brakes all round, the Dino was created from the ground up to be a true driver’s car.

Named after Enzo’s son, the Dino is everything you expect a Maranello car to be and so much more. Supremely agile for the time, and still a revelation to drive today, the Dino 246 was powered by a mid-mounted 2.4L V6 engine, producing 192 bhp and 166 lb-ft of torque. Its impressive 2,380 lb weight translates to a top speed of 146 mph and accelerates from 0-60 mph in less than 8 seconds.

While by modern standards this performance isn’t going to set records, it was significantly quicker than the competing Porsche 911. And of course, the Dino had those swooping lines and Ferrari appeal. By 1974 when production ended, they had sold a total of 2,295 GT coupés and 1,274 GTS spyders. But more than that, the Dino had led the way for the mid-engined Ferrari as we know it today.

The GTS came along in 1972, adding a removable targa roof to the already well-received Dino design. With an open-top car added to the mix, this is arguably the pinnacle of Dino production. This car is one of just 91 chairs and flares cars made for the US market. With its beautiful Rosso Chiaro paintwork and immaculate Campagnola wheels beneath those flared arches, it is a fantastic example. Built in 1974, this Dino was one of the last to be manufactured.

Inside, the freshly re-upholstered Daytona seats are clad in black and red leather, and with full Ferrari Classiche Certification completed in 2023. It has benefited from a complete bare metal respray in 2010 by European Coachworks, a $100,000 mechanical restoration in Italy by Ferrari Classiche, and additional work completed by Ferrari of Central Florida. Whether you want to show this Dino at a Concours, wow the crowds at cars and coffee, or take it on weekend drives, this Dino is ready for its next adventure.

Chassis number 07842 was delivered new to David Bindel in Pacific Grove, CA. It is a matching numbers car that retains its original warranty card, tools, and jack. Fitted with the famous Daytona Seats (chairs) and extended arches (flares) to accommodate those wider Campagnola wheels, this vehicle also featured powered windows, A/C, leather interior trim, and an electric antenna from new.

This example drives as good as it looks, and while performance may not be a match for modern Ferraris, the handling is impressive. It’s a tactile, involving vehicle that is a pleasure to experience. Retaining its original color of Rosso Chiaro over Nero with Rosso leather interior and with that rare and highly desirable chairs and flares option, it is everything you want from this 1970s icon.

Carrying the name of Enzo Ferrari’s beloved son, the Dino is a landmark in Ferrari’s history. It is a heavily sought after car, especially in this final GTS form. With its well-documented history, Classiche status, and stunning condition, this car represents an opportunity to step back in time and enjoy the exuberance, beauty and unending spirit of one of the most acclaimed cars from the 1970’s.
