It takes the high voltage battery down to around 88% or so from memory and maintains it at that level. I've sold my GTB in readiness for my GTS which went to status 70 yesterday so I don't have an owner's manual to hand to confirm. Maybe somebody else can?
The manual said it optimizes the charge level when the car is parked for a long period of time. I am guessing it lower the power consumption by turning off most of the system instead of putting them to into sleep?
Anymore more info on a long parking mode warning? My car has been plugged in for the last 3 weeks. When I checked my app I found a “battery optimized long parking mode enabled” warning. Also my battery pack is in red. My lv battery is at 12.8v and the main battery is at 100 percent. I won’t be able to check on the car till Sunday. Should I expect any problems or will everything return to normal once I drive it?
Experienced the same message when it was parked and plugged-in for over 3 weeks. Then drove the car this Saturday and all was normal, battery still 100% charged, all good. My take is, that the message reads more as an alert than it should be only an information. Hope you can enjoy your 296 soon again
My (limited) understanding of batteries is that to limit its aging, it should be left at a low charge level when unused for a long time. That may be what Long Parking mode does.
Ok I’ll know it a bit. My salesperson said it normal. Was concerned because it comes in as a warning that it was an issue. Lighting up the battery in red on the car in the app doesn’t help.
Long Parking mode has nothing to do with saving power or shutting the car down. It’s all to do with maintaining the high voltage battery at an optimum state of charge which will minimise any degradation in its performance. This means a charge level which is NOT 100% but a level some way back from that. The car will take account of things like temperature and how long it’s been like this and then periodically top up the battery at a low charge rate so as not to get it all hot and bothered. It’s vital the car is always plugged in to the supplied conditioner to allow the car to keep the battery at the best state. This is what my car’s battery status looks like right now. It’s not helpful that Ferrari use the word “warning” because that suggests a problem or a situation requiring intervention. Instead, a better word would be “Information” or “Status” or “Advice”. In addition, the battery should not be coloured red, maybe amber. If, however the battery is allowed to get low, that is definitely a problem which needs attention.
I agree. Warning is a bit much. All was well when I took it out for a ride and the battery returned to a normal mode after I plugged it in again.
Question for 296 owners: if you are going on a road trip and staying at places that don't have power sockets in the parking areas, are you able to leave your car undriven and unplugged for a few days or does the battery need to be regularly topped-up?
I make it a habit of driving the last few miles in Quali mode to make sure the hybrid is fully charged before I park. On that basis the car is good for a few weeks in the summer, perhaps a little less in the colder months?, and I use the app to check.
I just recently took a trip and left it in the parking lot for 5 days unplugged from anything. Battery was basically fully charged from the 200 mile drive there. I had no issues when it was time to go, everything was in perfect state.
