I am getting an error code that prevents the car from starting. Apparently the car thinks it has been in an accident and has shut off the fuel supply, a safety feature obviously. This is not the first time this has happened. It goes in spurts. Usually I can open and shut the door or lock/unlock the car and try a few times and it will start. Once I had to get dealer to reboot computer. Now problem is back again.

The manual states it is positioned on the left-hand side of the passenger compartment, in the lower part of the front door pillar and is protected by a metal bracket. It says to remove cover and push reset button. I cannot find it. Help please.

Here what is in the owners manual page 96. It's on the drivers side.

Can't you find the cover? It's black flat circle cover in plastic.

Indeed, and guess SfefVan hasn't realized the manual is wrong yet < ha ha>. Look for it on the driver's side. A lot of European car manufacturers write original manuals for right-hand drive cars, and forget to correct everything. By the way, you probably have a different issue man; no way the car would start without resetting that switch... if that was the reason. Good luck.

Yes indeed it is on the driver's side. Rubber stopper plug about mid shin level to your left leg as sitting in driver's seat. No wonder I couldn't find it. I called my guy at Blackhorse Performance this morning and he clued me in.

Put key in ignition. Remove plug and push button once. Then start as normal. I think I have a faulty sensor as this problem has plagued me since ownership. At least I know what to do now instead of curse out loud.

    thanks all

For future reference. If you get this fault code, replace the unit. I'm waiting for the part to arrive. It will leave you stranded. Believe me, I know.

Thanks for the advice ;) but I never heard of this unit failing. Everything can happen on a F430 ;) What was the error code you got? An OBD code?

JC, for once, the owner's manual is right ;) Left hand side = driver side ;)

I guess what you haven't realized is that "passenger compartment" includes the driver's side as well.

Stef's post stated driver's side as well. Try not to jump so quickly, JC.

Gasoline pump with a slash through it alternating with the emergency flasher symbol.
