At Sebring, the LMP2 seems to be divided into 2 classes; true LMP2 cars and a new category called LMPC. At Le Mans itself, only the LMP2 class is listed.

Sebring is divided because it carries an auto 24h invite so they had to split the LMP1 and LMP2 into separate classes. The LMPC is a separate class in all ALMS races. In the non-24h invite races it's an LMP class with 1's and 2's running together as one class. LMPC in ALMS is the Formula LeMans in Europe. LMPC is a spec car - all ORECA's and is basically on par with the GTC which is a GT3 Porsche (Atherton's doing limited to one mfg, suppose to think about allowing another mfg next year, most likely Audi). Inother words, ALMS has made the Porsches into CTG and the LMPC grid fillers to make their races look good. Take them out of Sebring and you only have 23 cars which is pitiful, take out the three European entries and then you would have only 20 entries. Pretty sad when LMS is getting nearly 50 cars per race and Spa should be the biggest of the year again as it's a dress rehersal for LeMans for the teams. Hope this helps a bit.

This is sad, but OK, now I understand. LMPC is the same as what they are calling formula Le Mans in Europe.
CTG is basically the same as what they call GT3 in Europe.
    Thanks Carol

You're welcome - only the GT3 in Europe has many manufacturers in the class whereas ALMS is Porsche only - If memory serves me correctly the CTG in ALMS used to be a support series that was sponsored by Patron and my opinion is that they changed and added to the regular event to "fatten the pot" as it were. I think they run with some kind of small light in the rear to identify them as slower cars. I know they did not run the GT3 Porsches with the regular field at Petit last year - that might not have been so good with Audi and Peugeot running - guess we'll see what happens at Sebring.
