There are several topics on this matter on the F-Chat but most of them on 360/430 section and they are old.

I have done some research about this, read most of the lightweight battery debate on F-Chat and come up with 2 suggestions:

    1) Odyssey PC925 AGM (26 lbs)
    2) Odyssey AGM ER 30 (20 lbs) It is 34 (Ah) and while looking for this there is also AGM ER 40 (27 lbs) and it is 45 (Ah)

I drive my italia once in a week or once in 10 days and since the stock OEM battery sucks big time and need to be replaced soon (it already doesn't work properly and dies out if the car is left for 3 weeks) I thought it is an easy way to drop about 8-10 kg.

As far as I read, we can still use the stock charger. So ER30 is priced around 450-USD and ER40 is priced around 500-USD. PC925 is around 300-USD

In one of the threads, it is said that PC925 AGM is a good replacement for OEM battery but from the pictures, I think it is too big for the OEM battery place. Just looking from the pictures, ER series look to have better (smaller) size than OEM Battery.

Has any one had first hand experience with Odyssey lightweight batteries?

Hmm, I guess you are preparing to break the track record :) I think all of the batteries you mentioned will fit in the battery compartment Extreme Series Battery Specifications ? ODYSSEY battery. In the Speciale manual, it says it can use Optima R R4.2 RT R 4.2 | OPTIMABATTERIES So that means it can take the above Odyssey batteries. It should be the same with 458 Italia.

I'd go with PC950 or 1100 but I think it will require using the conditioner religiously. Can you find these batteries in Turkey?

BTW, I've sent you a PM

Thank you for the valueable Speciale Battery info. It is right between 950 and 1100.
Fermas has Odyssey Battery range. So I guess I can get it from them. If not, I can carry it from the States with my HJS sports cats ;)

I correct myself: Fermas doesn't sell Odyssey. I'll find a way to have it.

I've got a 2014 Spider and because of work travel it can easily happen that I don't get to drive the car for 4-6 weeks in a row. I would love to get the battery changed to achieve a longer standby time before the car runs out of juice and needs to be jump started. However, when I spoke to my dealer about changing the battery (at my cost), he mentioned that this would void the entire warranty program. Is this true? I'm rather pissed that the OEM battery is so lousy and I can't upgrade even at my own expense.

PS: I can't trickle charge the car where I live.
