I'd like to know too.

 

bought and sprayed about 6 months ago. However, it turned yellow tint color now on my California plate with org white color back ground and it's no longer shinny. PERIOD. Looks very old.

Would I use / respray again? NO

Does it work againist traffic camera? That I don't know.

 

Saw a TV news segment on it - they tried it and it worked as advertised, the whole plate went white in pictures.

From what I've heard, it doesn't work if the letters/numbers are convex (bulge out).

Off, but on topic a bit, I sprayed my car with clearcoat paint, and it vanished .

I used to make these plates in the UK, the spray is a con.

What you need is reflective vinyl, in the case of the UK is it reflective yellow, white and black, yes black!!, 3M make it.

The colour means nothing when a flash hits it, all that happens is the reflective properties of the material take over and the plate becomes white.

took me months to work it out, in the end I found out my mistake.

There is quite alot on the market.....the sprays are good but some ppl have said they become ineffective or do not work very well. Reflective numberr plates are very good/popular and are virtually undetectable to the naked eye!

 

How does the vinyl work? Do you make some sort of decal out of it and apply it onto the registration plate? Available in your local DIY shop?

A few years ago my brother took a picture of a Bentley in his appartment's underground parking lot. The flash made the reg. plate totally unreadable, just a plain yellow color! The black digits were completely invisible.

I just wonder how it would work with these new EU plates. They have a number stamped in that should always be visible. So you can't apply the vinyl to the complete surface of the plate.

have you tried to take a picture of your car yourself?

 

i wouldn't care about the pictures taken by people, i am worried about red light and traffic camrea's. running a toll etc... they suck

 

Would the spray work if you put it on a clear plate cover. If it turns yellow you could just buy another one.

 

the reason why I asked Rob was because a camera is a camera. If he takes a picture of his car and it does not show up, then guess what other cameras you dont have to worry about.

I can't pretend to know exactly what camera model each particular state uses to monitor traffic, but if you hear about them using video... beware.
