http://www.sportingo.com/motorsport/a10351_lewis-hamilton-most-arrogant-man-formula If anyone has any doubt as to why opinion is divided about Lewis Hamilton, then his conduct at his appeal hearing should help explain things. While he gave a spirited defence of his actions at the Belgian Grand Prix, the manner in which he did it would have raised some eyebrows. Under cross examination by Nigel Tozzi Ferraris legal counsel Hamilton dismissed the legitimacy of his questions because Tozzi is not a Formula One driver. When Tozzi responded by saying that he was under instruction from Ferrari, who would know as much about F1 as Hamilton, the young Brit is reported to have responded With respect, I doubt it. Thats a pretty arrogant response from someone who has been in the game for about 18 months, compared to Ferraris 58 years. The BBC also reports Hamilton as having said: "I have been a racing driver since I was eight years old and I know pretty much every single manoeuvre in the book, and that's why I'm the best at my job.'' "We are talking about a skilled driver under intense pressure making a split-second decision which no one, not unless they are in Formula One, can comprehend." Yes Lewis, youre very special we get it. But at the heart of all of this is the fact that Hamilton cut the chicane and his reason for this was we had a great battle and there was no need to take stupid risks, so I had to cut the chicane. Now, Im not an F1 driver, so my opinion isnt valid in Hamilton world, but I think that he didnt have to cut the chicane, he shouldnt have put himself in that position in the first place.
Although much of this is true, do we really need another negative anti-Hamilton thread? I think the point has been sufficiently made about this kids new public persona. I really believe that the other drivers on the grid have tuned him out, if you notice not one responds to him. Maybe its time for everyone else to just ignore his future commentary. Afterall, its just the same BS repeated in different syllables each time.
Yes let's move on, to what now!! ahhh I know ................ more pathetic lame attempt's at Lewis bashing. Brillant just brillant ..
I got an idea. Why not add a poll to this thread and then every one can vote that indeed Lewis Hamilton IS the most arrogant man in F1. Then lets make it a sticky for future reference when any one needs reminding (so that will be tomorrow then)then they can refer to the poll. Makes sense to me
The issue is basically that Hambone cheated and was caught its as easy as that. He can be as arrogant as he wants and be in denial it makes no difference. If you can't follow rules you will have to pay the penalty.
Yep, let's hope they all just drive into each other, oh wait, that's NASCRAP! So all anyone has to do is push other drivers off , oh, that's NASCRAP too! Hard to imagine how one Mikael Scumacher would fare without being able to block, drive into rivals or otherwise intimidate his fellows on the track.......At least he isn't arrogant????
Hambone was caught and penalized. It has nothing to do with Michael, NASCAR, the man in the moon or crop circles.
Actually I'm totally in favor of Lewis' answer to Tozzi and do not see it as arrogance at all. If anything I see it as the arrogance of a lawyer who studies racing a little and considers himself an expert. This is typical lawyer BS. Tear to shreads a situation that takes place in a few fractions of a second and accuse everyone of anything in an effort to build a 'case'. LH in F1 for 18 months or not he is a professional and certainly knows how to race, I think his comment was more a function of needless interrogation by a lawyer in an effort to prove a point when all the while ignoring the big picture. As for the most arrogant man in F1 that has to go to Max Mosely. Let's see, intelligence warns him that there is a group out to get dirt on him and he ignores this and has his little 'encounter' and STILL claims to be a victim. Lewis has got nothing on this guy.
The difference between an amateur and a professional is a professional gets paid for their services. I told that to my Ex-Wife when I gave her a check after my divorce. She was pig and now she was a well paid pig.
Lewis is indeed an arrogant, win at all cost driver (kind of like Schumi). Given his position and ability he will be champion sooner or later. In any case he got what he deserved. He should keep quite now and get back to driving the car.... on the track please.
Arrogant & F1...First person that comes to mind is Alonso. I don't think Hamilton is arrogant. I do think he is young and doing is best to stay confident and in a winning frame of mind.
I'm starting to wonder. Seeing the way Lewis tosses the McLaren sideways over the kerbs (and chicanes) (remember the comments about his tire wear?), I wonder if he wouldn't personally be happier in rallye ... or drifting. But the pipeline took him to F1, and I doubt he's had much personal choice in the direction of his career for some time now. Maybe the trash talk is just his reaction to being run like a puppet the rest of the time. I'd like to see Lewis at the ROC/Nations Cup, but I suspect his dad wouldn't approve of such "extracurricular activities".
I think you'd be amazed at just how arrogant even a test driver from a middle of the road team is too. Point is they pretty much all are. Nice guys are a dime a dozen and drivers with Lewis's talent are one in a Billion.
Someone can be supportive of someone in the face of evidence to the contrary. I defended Massa for a long time. However, these threads point out repeated instance of poor judgment, arrogance and bad conduct. After a while, the weight of the evidence starts to accumulate and people will change their minds. I made my mind up a long time ago on Lewis, and everytime he speaks, I just smile, and welcome more people to the club. I once respected his talent, but Lewis does not respect others--he is disgusted by those who dare question him. I no longer respect his talent, because his personality is just too tarnished. I love his comments on split second decisions--like hitting Kimi in the back in pit lane instead of Kubica. Good one Lew.
I'm at the point that whenever he opens his mouth on TV I just mute it. Its just more endless dribble.
