Like these cars. Drove a 2011/2012 a couple of years ago and it was nice and thought the shift points were a little different as the thought was it would shift like the Ferrari F-1. Today, that requirement is no longer necessary and believe these cars are worthy to add to most any collection. If you were able to choose one of these cars again, which year and what options would you select? Love your color combo. Best, DJ
I would get as much carbon fiber as possible. They had options for door sills, engine compartment, even back of the seat. I think right now the 2013 GT is probably the sweet spot. As far as the shifts... it was totally weird. It's off a bit, like it waits then shifts based on your input, unlike any Ferrari F1. Mercedes did do a software update that the earlier 2010-2012 SLS can have done which improve it quite a bit. More responsive like the Ferrari setup.
I am also waiting for my 2nd HD-9 lift from them, and yes, even the standard blue color is a 3-4 week back order. I wanted a black one like my current one but they told me that black or red is around 3 month waiting time so I went ahead and ordered blue instead. I ordered mine from Garage Equipment Supply. Where did you get yours from?
I ordered a black HD-9 from Equipment Depot locally in SoCal. Also doing new garage doors and side mount Liftmasters. Hopefully should get it in about 1-2 weeks. Wife isn't too happy that I kicked her Bentley out for now. Sent from my 16M
That's great that you can get it from a local retailer there. They must have got some black HD-9 left because even the manufacturer had a back order when I called BP directly a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, there is no retailer locally around my area. Good luck with the side mount garage lift (I had to raise mine too) and let's see some pics after you are done.

They are a blast to drive, it gets more attention than the 308. Fun to work on too, just way bigger and heavier parts, however no timing belts .
This is a neat thread...my "R" and the "S"... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Handles so well it sticks to a vertical wall Esprit is a great road (GT) car particularly around 70 MPH. Interior is cozy and comfortable, surprising amount of storage/luggage space. Probably the best supercar bargain in the world right now. I've owned this one 5+ years and no real mechanical issues to speak of either.
Thanks! Never have driven an Esprit. The Elan +2S has a low drag coefficient and is very light... so it slices through the wind. It is surprisingly fast. It has plenty of room inside but has demanded a lot of sorting (Colin Chapman). I do prefer my TVR through the twisties, since it feels more solid and has better brakes. They are both good cars, but the TVR is one of my favorites. It has a Triumph 6 engine with a 3rd Stromberg for extra oomph. A real sports car.
