Has anyone experienced when driving in the mountains during the time that the leaves are falling and having leaves falling and getting caught in the front lower vents and therefore the car starts to over heat becasue of the lack of airflow ??? I am up driving up in the moutains and (Nov 2022) and there are so many leaves and they keep keeping stuck and I have to pull over and remove the leaves and the car temp. immediatly reduces. Anyone else have this isse and it yes, how did you manage to keep the leaves from getting blocked.

I live in the Blue Ridge mountains covered with deciduous trees. While I get leaves stuck in the lower vents, I don't think I've had enough stuck there to cause a problem. Then again, this is the time of year that I put the car in winter storage. Essentially, those front vents are vacuums. There are radiator fans behind them sucking air through so I'm not sure how you could prevent the leaves from attaching themselves.

It happens in race cars all the time after a "lawn mowing" excursion. There is nothing to be done but to pull into the pits and have the crew scoop out the debris.

I've not had it happen on the road, but there won't be any fix other than pulling over and cleaning out the intakes.

Yes. In the 458, was in the middle of nowhere and temp started to rise well above normal - pulled over and finally saw the leaves packed on the front radiators.

It took quite a while to clean them out, but was greatly relieved that was the problem.

All mid engine cars are prone to clogged radiators during autumn driving. The mesh of the protective screens are too large and the airflow too great.

I live in the Blue Ridge mountains as well, and I’ve driven a few times over the last few weeks on some roads when it looks like it’s raining leaves, especially when it’s been windy. Then there are some roads and a calm day when it’s just fine. I’ve definitely had to get a few leaves out of the openings, and some even stuck in crevices under the car, but nothing that would make it overheat.

so frustrated with the design... now image this... in the mountains for 4 days straight with a couple of McLaren 720's and no issues with their cars.... Only the ferrari,,, guys... guys... guys... I have to pull over "i say" .... again they say... you should get a real sports car that is all season ... all good humor and fun. ... by the way, you (meaning me) should get a discount on tires, because you only need summer and not all season.... boy this was a long weekend of having to hear and see all the orange within the cabin... again all good fun ...

Also watch out for those floating plastic grocery bags or a page of newspaper. They get stuck easily.
