Looking for a leather conditioner that doesn't leave the leather slippery when dry. Recently used Chemical Guys leather cleaner and conditioner and would like other suggestions. thanks, Mike
Image Unavailable, Please Login Leatherique. They have been doing this for like 40 yrs. Amazing stuff. 2 part system. One conditions, one cleans. I have tried most major brands before getting a recommendation. Can find on Amazon or buy direct. Seriously this stuff is amazing Given cars are parked for winter, I decided to do a week of applications. Results were stunning. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Also interested to know what people use, I have used most and really find them very similar, having said that, I have not used the above 2!!
I like the Bick’s products because it’s the only one that I’ve found that is easy to use and doesn’t darken the leather or leave a white residue that a lot of products do. I use it twice a year and it keeps the leather natural looking and soft.
Take a look at Griot ..they have great customer service, been using all their products for many years. https://www.griotsgarage.com/leather-3-in-1-spray/ This product even smells great. Good Luck
Leather milk from swissvax or leatherique is absolutely amazing. Been in the detail world for along time
Leatherique is good. Just don't expect a miracle. I had some very damaged leather from water in another car that did not change. Still recommended but it says to treat with hot conditions, fyi.
Another +1 for Leatherique, but you need summer weather and a bunch of plastic food wrap to do it so it is only really practical for seats not the major amount of leather on a Ferrari which can be covered everywhere. I use the Griots leather spray 3 in 1 spray twice a year and clean the leather with an ammonia free cleaner recommended by my leather repair guy first.
Wrap seats in garbage bag or saran wrap after application of leatherique Roll windows up and park in sun. let lotion soak into leather
I took my whole interior of my 20 year old 456 apart, out of the car and had some parts re-upholstered. I used Leatherique for the first time and am genuinely amazed after having used many other brands in different parts of the world. I brought the parts in the house and even at room temperature, I just let the conditioner soak in for a couple days and when using the cleaner with a microfiber towel, I was amazed how much dirt came off. Cleaned some parts 2 or 3 times until the microfiber did not pick up any dirt anymore. Went through 30 or so fiber clots, but the Costco bag helped out here. Drove last weekend here in NorCal with great sunny weather for the first time again and from every single angle with the sun, the leather looks like new. Not only that, the touch is smooth and soft, with my shorts (yep, it was 70+F) on the chair just felt really nice. Getting in the car early morning (6AM and 45F) the leather still feels soft, smooth and warms up really quick to the feel. It was my first time using Leatherique but I am sold. I am actually going to do our couch in the living room as well this summer.
Not to open up a can of worms, but I've never seen a clear answer on the question of what type of leather is in our cars. I know leather technology has changed a lot over the years. I have a 355 and the leather is clearly much different (more "authentic") than the leather in, say, a newer Porsche. My (very limited) understanding is the newer leathers have a waterproof topcoat and that all you need to do is clean them -- no point in "conditioning" them, because nothing soaks in. Does anyone know when the crossover was with Ferraris and what conditioner is right for the earlier leathers such as in the 355? Presumably something like Leatherique is intended for one type of leather and not the other?
It used to be Connolly, but Ferrari switched to Poltrana Frau when mad cow disease hit. Poltrana does not list Ferrari on their website, so they may have switched again. EDIT: Connolly's website now says Ferrari is a current client. https://www.connollyengland.com/pages/connolly-leather
I've used Leatherique on my '07 Mercedes as well as my '08 599, it works great. A 355 is a little older than that but you should be fine. I called them at one point with a question, they were very nice.
I agree Leatherique is a great product for leather that is in serious need of attention. Seems like an awful lot of work though for normal treatment. For routine care, I think it's overkill. Any of the other products listed above will do the trick. Personally, I like the Zaino product for the leather-like smell and the condition of the leather following treatment.
I have an 83 308 and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for that vintage of leather, Cleaner and conditioner. I am currently using Lexol, and have absolutely no interest in Leatherique. Anything better than the Lexol?
Curious, why no interest in Leatherique? I am about to condition my 84 308 seats and trying to find the best product for mine.
Griot’s leather conditioning products always worked out great for me on both F-cars and dailies. Depending on how your leather looks or what it needs, Griot’s offers several choices. Chemical Guys has a leather cleaner and leather conditioner set that also worked well for me.
Has anyone tried this crap yet? Looks promising, may order a can just to try out.. https://leatherbetter.ca/
