Saw it late, but if you Saw it late, but if you had used the Opera browser with the built in VPN, you could have seen it. I am lucky that I could record all of it in the DVR from the Velocity Feed.
Terrific... After all these years watching the live stream subscription from WEC/FIA, I never dreamed there would be an issue. I get their Email updates and never once saw any announcement stating that the broadcast would be geo-blocked in U.S. and Canada. Extremely disappointing. BHW
Now now now, I am sorry that your Pinto or X/19 did not win. But them is the breaks of racing. The little piggy was flat superior right out of the box and never squealed once in the 24 hours. Maybe next year for the others. German sports cars seem to like French roads in June! Enjoy your weekend. Porsche made mine Post 63 of this thread offers a marvelous song. Please grab a Stein of your best lager and join us in song! And remember....Panzer's rule !!!
Only because of BoP changes before LM and during the week. I did like the sound of the N/A 6 cyl! Ferrari had it with the 458.
So wait a minute - Toyota and Alonso won because no one else was racing in their class? Basically as long as the car held together there was no way to lose? What kind of victory is that? Good lord with all the hype around this you would’ve thought he had to fight every race car on the planet. Sounds like Alonso found yet another way to work the system to try to stay relevant. Maybe this victory should come with an asterisk?
If only 4 cars ran the Indy 500 with poor equipment against Alonso in vastly superior car and he won, would we celebrate? "Hey! He made it around 200 times!" So, why are we celebrating his victory at LeMans? If he won in the GTE pro class, I think that would have been more of a challenge and more respected.
Agreed. That’s stupid. Reminds me of the F1 race at Indy where it was just Ferrari and some back markers. No glory in a win like that whatsoever.
Hollow victory? What about most of Audi wins? E,g. 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006. Shall we go on lol Audi against privateers.
Actually, nothing new. Le Mans always had its ups and downs. This was one of those bad editions, and even worse, the next will be the same. ACO's fault for reacting late when Audi left. The GT BOP is another terror story that I think has no easy fix.
All the other teams should boycott GTE-Pro until Porsche sells a mid-engined 911 to the general public.....
You can. just go to their website. 2019 GT3 R. available now. https://www.porsche.com/usa/eventsandracing/motorsport/customerracing/racingcars/991-gt3-r/ sjd
Then they'd have to boycott BMW too because the road version of the M8 doesn't even exist. And let's not talk about the Ford again.
this bop thing never creats balance. it's always faulty & controversial. this year in PWC one ferrari team abandoned race protesting against unfavourable bop.. http://sportscar365.com/world-challenge/tr3-parks-ferrari-over-bop-dispute-contemplates-pwc-future/
The thing that had the Radio Le Mans crew, Hindbaugh in particular, in a twist were the stint limits. With little else to comment on during the last hour, RLM had Lena Gade in the studio and they discussed this crazy stint limits rule and how its taking away from team strategies, etc. They were not at all complimentary to the rule, understood the reasons it was put in place, but ultimately decided it was completely unnecessary and would drive fans away. BHW
LOL “It’s what we said with the very concept of BoP. Why do you want to buy another, I don’t know, $50,000-100,000 kit, because you know you’re going to get weight. So just don’t spend the money; that’s the whole concept of BoP.” Why buy a 488GT3.....a 458GT3 is much cheaper. Oh wait...why not buy a 430GT3!!
Exactly, drive fans away Do we know Porsche still spends HUGE amounts of money on and around the Sarthe track. Ferrari spends: NOTHING! Ok ok they had a presentation of the 488 Pista Piloti in the Village.
You silly silly man. BOP is everyone's problem. It's just Porsches turn to get warm and fuzzy. Two year ago it was Ford. If Ferrari antes up, it's their turn. Isn't spec racing marvelous? Resume rant!
LeMans 2018...the sport that just keeps on giving.....https://www.motorsport.com/lemans/news/g-drive-lmp2-squad-stripped-of-victory-1046722/amp/
One of the best part of Le Mans was the live YouTube channel showing the on board camera in the Signatech Alpine Oreca of Nicolas Lapierre, Andre Negrao and Pierre Thiriet car. It was just engine noise, no commentary, so it was hard to keep up with what was going on but the video was riveting. Those little P2 cars really move and it was interesting to watch Lapierre especially as he did a triple stint in the night. BHW
So it seems. But then again the official finish has not been posted yet. Besides......he isn't Fred so it will probably go unnoticed.
I completely forgot this race was even on this weekend...whoops. Although I am not surprised Toyota won since they had no competition. I haven't followed this closely since 1998/1999 when multiple manufacturers competed.
