I've done a fair amount of searching but there seems to be a whole lot of theorhetical and very little practical knowledge on these tools and topics.

I have 3 pressing issues on my month new to me 458:

    Info is failing.
    Need to cut/pair a key.
    Want to retrofit cruise control.

I am aware that at least 2 & 3, and possibly 1, require proxi file modification on the body computer, and proxi alignment after the fact. Like many, my local dealer claims Ferrari North America will not allow them to install parts not purchased from FNA. Even if I install my own parts and prove they are from FNA, they want $3500 for a proxi file.

So, I find myself trying to make myself self sufficient for these and future issues. I understand that the Launch X431 is essentially a clone of Leonardo/Galileo, but they stopped updating it around the 458 (which obviously meets my needs). Is it capable of doing proxi editing/alignment, and key pairing (both the remote buttons and the immobilizer transponder)?

Related, there are loads of google results for tools that will do Proxi Alignment for other FCA brands like Fiat and Chrysler. Are none of these capable of doing the same for the 458? Ferrari wasn't spun out of FCA until 2016, so I would think that some of these corporate cousin tools should be interoperable?

If not, is acquiring a Galileo (which I understand to be the DIY/Home version of Leonardo?) for a single model line (or finding an indy with one/convincing them to order one) my only path forward? I've heard there are cheaper single-model license versions available in the 3-4k range, but I'm only seeing 6-7k for all of Ferrari? Does anyone offer "remote coding" as a possibility for some of these simple tasks?

Launch can do keys but you need accessory hardware and options. May not be worth it for one key.

It seems Launch will also do the other tasks you need but I’ve only had mine for a week so haven’t dug that far into it. All the capabilities you want are mentioned in the manual, but I guess I’m not certain if they work for the 458 or not

Appreciate the input! Which model did you go with?

The Launch stuff is all so cryptic with the dozens of versions and price points, and then you add in the Mini which is either a bootleg or grey market being sold here without authorization. To hear that programming keys is yet another confusing solution makes total sense haha.

I too have seen that they mention retrofitting and coding as features, but it’s not clear if it actually does that for a specific model. And even if they claim it does, that it actually is successful. That’s what I’m hoping to hear first hand experiences of on this thread.

Which parts are you considering adding that would require the proxy file? I can look through my Launch menus to see what is offered.

This model worked very well for key duplicates for a FIat( Chrysler) ..and isn't that expensive

Thanks! The most pressing is adding the cruise control, which I understand to be modifying the body computer and then running a proxi alignment.

I got the X431 PROS V+ Elite Bi-directional scan tool. I agree all the options are confusing and I wish there was a tutorial for all the features.
But I knew I wanted to be able to send signals to interrogate or test functions so that’s why I chose the bi-directional version.
So far I’ve only used it to scan and read codes on all the various computer modules on my 458. That was really straightforward and easy.
