I’d go drive the new Range if I were you. It drives differently than the Escalade but it’s still a lumbering suv with a bit soft suspension. It’s not like Rolls are but not as stiff as the defender (even with air suspension). For me there’s also no comparison between the new Escalade and the Range when it comes to finish and materials used. All leathers and woods are not the same! We ordered two at the same time and the SE showed first. When the AB LWB arrives this one will go away, but I’ve got to say the difference from tier to tier isn’t as dramatically different as they used to be IMO.

On the Defender side I’d also say that even with the upgraded interior it isn’t what I’d consider luxurious. It’s nice with the top leather and trim options but it’s not fully finished the same as the Range is. I love it for what we need in a daily at a snowy vacation house but it’s probably not a fit for your wife.
