Thanks so much for your photos.........that is indeed fine work, that interior.
Fantastic car Mity. Certainly one you won't see another like it on the road very often... I think someone at Ford must have also appreciated this car when they made the original SHO Taurus for 1989. Rather humble looking exterior, but a glorius, high-revving Yamaha designed 24V, 225hp V6 up front. I loved driving mine for over 100,000 miles from '97-'02. best of luck with your rare beast!
Yes it is. The dash is all leather and the only plastic interior piece is the kick plate on the bottom of the doors..everything else is leather wrapped. I am the second owner, the first being an Italian man in his 70s when he bought the car in 1988 (because he had trouble getting in and out of his other Ferraris)...it was very well cared for until his passing....the car still wears the 2001 parking pass for the Emilia Romagna Region in Italy. Beev
i've had the pleasure...and in the type of condition that Beev's car is in, they're fantastic. a sound to die for and an interior quality that exceeds what Ferrari was doing at the time. the sound, at least with Beev's exhaust, is like a hyper-refined American V-8...it's beautiful.
Keep it like it is. Rust what rust?? I had never a serious rust problems with my Lancia Thema both the 8.32 and the Turbo 16 Lx 93 both with all black poltrona Frau leather. There is wax everywhere... inside the sills and doors. Just a very poorly maintained car in a disaster clima zone, will suffer...like the others. I drive daily a Maserati Shamal and for 7 years now, others biturbos and they are NOT prone to rust also. Even better cared inside doors and sills than Ferrari!! THERE IS ALWAYS THAT STORY OF THE BAD METAL MEGATONS OF STEEL BOUGHT FROM RUSSIA BY ITALY... AND THEN ALL ITALIANS SUFFERED FOR AGES... COME ON THAT WAS THE SEVENTIES!! Believe me I put my hands on them!!
Heres the one I'm negotiating... Even rarer... It is a series 2 just for the German market with bright Ferrari red... And here is the one I'd like to buy... The right colour combination to my eyes. Blue with Terracota full leather Poltrona Frau! They are asking 25.000,00! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That limited edition Ferrari red does not appeal to me so much on the car, but I like the blue... I see it has a rear Ferrari badge which is not stock. Mine came to me with Ferrari fender shields and Ferrari centre wheel caps. I put it back to stock but have kept the ugly "LANCIA by Ferrari" window sticker, that emulates the intake plenum script...but I may take the heat gun to it soon making her totally stock. From time to time I get thoughts of selling her and move into a 12 cylinder F car, but I am lucky to have regular access to drive F cars of all varieties and the Thema is so rare here I may just keep it. Mine is the only legally registered one known in Canada and there are a couple falsely registered in the USA where they are not legal for importation untill they are 25 years old. I currently have a small waiting list of Americans (including 2 Italian specialist dealers) interested in purchasing mine once she is 25. I would expect I would easily move it for $25,000 in Canada now and if I held out for a few more years I expect to do a little better in the USA market, especially for a car of this calibre. I got the car out of storage last week and after 3 minutes of driving I am in love all over again! Sorry no longer for sale!!! (this from a guy with 7 other enthusiast cars to drive) Beev
MITYRARE was kind enough last April to take me for a ride in his car. Half way through the drive he pulled over and let me take over. I was very impressed! I don't see why Lancia can design a front drive car with no torque steer while so many other companies can't do it. If I was in charge of drive train developement at car company XYZ I would get one of these cars and reverse engineer the front wheel drive. PS, thanks again Beev for the fun drive.
Yeah, but you live in Portugal! Try living here in the more damp parts of Europe (and try the salt on the roads in winter time...)
Great post Mity, thanks. I remember back when they were new, I thought this and the other great Q car of the 80's, the Lotus Carlton, were insane (in a good way) They had the do-gooders demanding limits on power for saloon cars as no 4 door had any business being that much fun to drive.
I have driven a SHO T and they are an amazing car. Brett - thank you Brett (Gran Turismo Auto in Alliston Ontario Canada)for taking on the major service for this rare one and it is always great to swap cars with you and go driving. Maybe you will hook me up with a 12 cylinder F car and I will trade you the 8.32 as long as I can still drive it from time to time...haha - I really need to buy a vacant storage facility if I continue to buy and never sell these cars... they are all special in their own unique way. Anytime you are down from the far reaches of the Arctic (well at least Alaska)you are most welcome to go driving with me...i love sharing rides. Being a Lotus enthusiast myself the Carleton is the only Lotus product I have never had the pleasure of sitting in...someday when in England I will hunt down an enthusiast and bribe him for ride...a little faster in acceleration than the THema8.32 but the Thema is apparently much more well planted at speeds in excess of 200km/hr (so I am told)...I would love to do my own research first hand lol Beev
You thinking of the Audi RS2 jointly developed with Porsche? The 500E was all Mercedes I think Edit:- Just checked wiki. You are right, looks like production of the 500E was by Porsche. Didn't know that.
Yes, the (W124) Merc 500E was built by Porsche in limited numbers... a forgotten "Q-car". Also it would be cool if a moderator deleted the word "Delta" from the title... it just looks ridiculous
I agree. ...although I did look at a nice 1994 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2 today ...i wouldn't trade my Lancia Thema 8.32 for it though. B
