Wow, that's too bad. The rumors were out there a long time but we all didn't want to believe they were true.

Wow, really? Not just Lambo, but all of GP Imports?

Not totally surprising, but a significant loss for the exotic community in PDX. Also a drag for anyone local who bought a Lambo and was counting on service.

It will be very interesting to see if RTGT considers picking up Lambo--though I would imagine in this economy it is unlikely.

Portland didn't have a Lamborghini dealer for a long time. How long did GP Imports have the franchise? Sucks for the people who will have to go to Seattle for service. I can't see Tonkin picking up the franchise.

From what I heard the other day from a RTGT employee, they tried to get Lamborghini. How hard I don't know but they told me that Lamborghini and Aston Martin doesn't want an Oregon presence. I doubt they will try again with another dealer however if anyone can keep it going, decade after decade it would be Tonkin.

Wow, that is too bad! I'm a bit surprised, given their ownership. However, these days who knows...

Always heard great things about the sales side. However, and I'm not afraid to admit this, but given the multiple times I have dealt with the service side I am 100% and absolutely NOT surprised that they are closing their doors.

I very much like several of the employees that worked for GPI / Lambo of PDX. Trust that they will move on and make successful choices in career.

But for local Lambo owners: We aren't missing a service center. I have owned 7 Lambo's since 2005. EVERY time I went to GPI for service it went poorly. EVERY car I brought in was damaged in some way. EVERY repair took at least two trips (and in some cases six) to get repaired to any level of satisfaction. So I for one am very happy that since they closed Lamborghini will pay for costs of transportation (might be just one way) to get cars properly repaired in Bellevue. Each time I took one of my cars there, it was fixed properly the first time. Josh is a true asset to the local Lamborghini community and I strongly encourage people to contact him directly.

Also, many here know I was a "poster child" for GPI for a few years. I have held my tongue for the past 18 months after even the sales side of the company royally gave it to me (unlubricated) right up the poo chute! So again in my eyes no loss there either.

I truly hope the locals can now support the other two choices in town for high end cars. Both RTGT and SpeedSports will do a great job. (I still think Ron might make another pitch to get the Lambo franchise if the numbers were right.)

Oh K rant over and I promise not to dance on the grave of GPI anymore.

I, too, like several of the employees there as we had a blast in Sunriver.

However, I am also glad to see that my experiences with the service department were not unique.

Correct, from my sources, they are letting the weak non performing dealers go to the way side and are not replacing them. They want only the strong to survive and re-build the network. Also makes perfect sense since the amount of cars being produced over the next year is way down for the USA...will not be enough cars to support a stand alone Dealership.

Maybe instead of a dealership in every state they should have a service department in every state to keep customers from having to travel so far.

I think, with the combination of VW and Porsche...you are more likely to see Audi Dealership service Depts getting opened up for so called "light" service to the Lambo line...i.e. oil, filters, tune ups..etc etc..and only keep the big no driving items for the Lambo Depts to have them trucked to them..only makes sense money wise...not to mention the G car, their biggest seller can easily be serviced by exsisting Audi Service Depts.

Roy has the perfect model for a Lambo dealer. Low overhead, best prices, loyal customers

I agree. The overhead in this kind of economy is what kills you.

Unfortunately, not unique at all. Its too bad! Great location, some very good members on staff,but........

Stinks that PDX has lost what could have been an ideal place to buy, service and hang with the car community!

I've never need had a direct experience with service, but I heard from folks I trust that it was far inferior to the service side. Regardless, said to see it go by the wayside. I also liked the folks on the sales side.

In Portland, that's not much help. Unless they've improved substantially over the last several years, there isn't much good to say about Sunset's Audi service department.

Well regardless of what or why, it is sad to see another local business close. Oregon is a really tough spot for retail/exotic/high end anything and for awhile there it looked as if Oregon was going to start becoming a contender.

Best of luck to all the employees that have been let go.

The Puma and Bang & Olufsen boutiques in the Pearl both closed this summer.

Are there any independent Audi garages you'd trust with a Gallardo?
