Sounds like you have 04~05 Gallardo with the tall gears. I had a 360, sold that for a 6spd Gallardo. I hated the tall gears on the Gallardo, had the ecu tuned, gained about 40hp, the 1st gear reach redline so much faster now. The ecu tune really remove that sluggishness and give it more kick and much shaper throttle responds. Highly recommended.

I wish I had ecu tuned on my 6spd 360. The 360 is a great car with short gears, the 2nd gear is the weak spot, get through 1st gear lighting fast, then sluggish 2nd gear, great 3rd gear. Ecu tune adding 20 to 30hp will transform 2nd gear IMO. I can see myself picking up another 360 in black or red and 1st thing I would do is ecu tune.

Regarding the depreciation. I've been watching prices on the 2008 Gallardo Superleggeras since 2009, and they are essentially the same asking price now as they were then. Obviously I can't tell the future, but for the people that bought one at a year or two old for $100k off MSRP and then drove it 3 years for the cost of maintenance, that's a pretty good deal. I spent a weekend with a friends Superleggera, and it blew my 360 out of the water in every category.

Congrats to the op and thanks for sharing your experiences. Your living a dream and im sure many on here are aspiring to own one great car as it seems your hard work has paid off and you have quite a nice little stable. I somewhat agree with the over indulged service hype, but i guess it makes some people feel better to follow the manual.. to each their own.

Yeah - 08 SuperG vs. a 360 is no comparison...08 SuperG against the 08 Scud = also no comparison, only in favor of the Ferrari. Depreciation is around 40-45% off the Superleggera (original sticker of 250) and about 40-45% off the Scuderia (original sticker of 300).

I've had a Gallardo (2006) and a series of Ferraris (360, F430 and now a 16M)... so my most recent comparisons are with the G and the 16M.

To the OP, it would appear as if you put a LOC exhaust on your car. I did too. OMG what an amazing exhaust. The sound is simply epic at all RPMs and sounds much more aggressive than my Ferraris regardless of the exhaust set up.

I would agree the G and the F430 are very close. While the 16M buries the G in almost every driving category, the G beats the 16M in many daily-driver usability features. I know both cars have different "design centers", but the G is more comfortable. Heated seats and a more forgiving suspension make this car my wife's favorite. She won't go on a long ride in the 16M... it does rattle the bones after a while.

I find the G is louder (b/c of the aftermarket, no-muffler exhaust) and I really like the interior. Also, I love the front-end lift feature and auto-folding mirrors on the G. There are places and roads I simply can't take my 16M. It's lower than the F430 and I've scraped both the front AND the back trying to negotiate some of the mountain roads around our house.

While the body design dates back to 2004, the G still looks amazing and has withstood the test of time. My G is blacked out (black paint, interior, top and wheels)... yet it gets way more attention than my yellow 16M or either of my red Ferraris before it. Women LOVE the G. I've had some over the top reactions while driving, pumping gas or sitting at a stop light.

Again, the 16M is a much better drivers car. Handling, steering, braking... they all are on the 16M's side of the comparison chart. Acceleration and shifting with the 16M just makes you smile and the exhaust note under acceleration, while not as loud or exotic as the G, is really amazing.

I've tracked the G and my F430 and the Ferrari was better... I haven't tracked the 16M yet and can't wait to do so as this car was really made for that purpose.

Bottom line, I love having both and drive them every day when it's not raining... which in Cali means I'm driving them a lot.

Here are a couple of pix of both cars.

Yes, I agree! I was considering selling my 360 and getting a Gallardo, but it wasn't as fun to drive as the Ferrari. The way to go is both.

    35-45k EURO. = $49,435 - 58,540 USD

    BTW $30k USD = $23,060 Euro.

At current exchange rates. With miles as they are.. about same pricing as the US..

BTW how much will VAT be on the import of the car into sweden?

Hmm, i don't know to be honest, i cant find a decent answear.

    but i found one 360 F1 for 44,500 Euro
    Ferrari 360 Modena F1 als Sportwagen/Coupé in Albizzate - Varese - VA

    And i found this
Ferrari 360 Modena F1 als Sportwagen/Coupé in Bielefeld ... Cause i realy ant black leather interior over the brown (im very picky when it comes to colour-combination)

But i want to keep the car-price under 45,000, but one great tip i read was to tell the seller i have been looking for a few other or that i am gonna look at a few other, in that way the seller mightwant to go down for a quick deal

I don't know that anyone was suggesting that you need to take the car to a Lambo dealer for an "annual service," but I had a G myslef, which was very reliable, but 2 things:

    1. I changed the oil at least yearly or every 3000 miles, whichever came first (and 10 qts of oil and the $75 filter adds up to at least $150 for a DIY change); and

    2. I checked my oil so my oil light never came on.

I think $300 for 3 years is just deferring a potentially larger expense, and on resale I would worry that a buyer may not pay top dollar without records of at least annual oil changes.

You probably know this, but have your mechanic check the CV joint bolt torque, as they can back out and the dmage is pretty significant - happened to my car, fortunatly under warranty.

Bottom line the G is very, very reliable, but I'd budget $1K per year for routine stuff like fluid changes, inevitable battery change, brake pads, that kind of thing.

Call me petty, but actually I read the thread to be about maintenance costs for exotic cars.

I had an 05 Gallardo. Don't miss it.

Drove an SL when I was shopping for a Scuderia, still wasn't impressed. And unlike the OP, I have a contrasting opinion of the interior.

The G interior felt much cheaper and much more plasticky than a 430 / Scuderia and at times I almost felt like I was driving a 2005 A4 with all the Audi AC, knobs etc on the inside.

The fact the seats didn't offer decent lumbar support also meant I got chronic backaches and I was only 26 when I got a G.

I think we all know the 360 is too slow, unfortunately even the CS, unless you can rev it to death

I always though the earlier Gallardo was slower than the 360.

Start at 2:13 sec to see the performance numbers.

    I had a yellow e-gear 05 G, owned it for 4 years, sold it and bought an 05 red F1 430
never looked back, never miss the G.

BTW, I paid >50k additional for the 430, its well worth it, and IMO just simply the superior car.

Lol at those zero to sixty and quarter mile times, the early car is way faster than that. I had a '04 Gallardo three pedal car and a ' 01 360F1 and the Ferrari felt much slower all across, not a comparison at all. The best move was when I got the F430 three pedal car, faster than the Gallardo, but it could get one into trouble a little easier. From a drivers perspective both of Ferraris are the correct choice with the Gallardo not as sporty, but easier to drive faster and safer.

When I was shopping, my choice was down to a 360 or a Gallardo. After driving both the 'G' was the better drive. So, I started looking hard for the right Lambo. In the middle of the search I drove a CS, and that was it. The CS ticked all the boxes for me and was the better performance car.

I still want a Gallardo.... possibly an LP560/4, but the CS is a keeper.

If your looking for an "affordable" year, check out the '06-08's. There were many upgrades done in MY '06. I had an '06 G SE and really liked it. Fantastic car with an epic sound if you put catless pipes and an LOC Rev5 exhaust on it. Could easily be used as a DD (unlike my radioless CS...lol)

Thank you, I have been researching both cars and the C8 before purchase. I think a second gen Gallardo will be my choice as of now.

Great article. I'm just not a fan of the v10 and find the interior way to cramped in the G. The 360 interior is much more spacious and find it to be aging better than the G.

I'll be looking at changing my 360 towards the end of next year and it'll be between a 430 or an lp560 (coupe) and wondered if there are any owner experiences comparing the 2, I have driven both but it was a long time ago and on an experience day in the rain so not really of any use. Thanks
