is this a relatively simple hinge change, what does it cost, who makes them please ?
Hamann makes this option for the F430 spider. hamann-motorsport.com +49 (0) 7392 97320 But I have no idea about the cost for this mod. I've seen this on the last Geneva motor show. Quite impressive
Very interesting! As in my case I have a very narrow garage and it is a straggle to get in and out of the car. I wonder if he opening angle is narrower that the standard version.
From the picture it does looks like but it will still take some minimum space on each side. And for sure, you need enough height to be open the door which isn't always the case in some parkings. Anywas, it's certainly better to ask them the specs directly to make sure what we are talking about
I know for the Gallardo, the Hamann door modification can only be done at Hamann in Germany and it is about $30k.
Here you go... bolt on gay doors kit, only $9999.00... ( : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-04-06-F430-99-05-F360-BOLT-Vertical-Door-Kit-/260591249298?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cac72e792
I was waiting for someone to post this, finally...hahaha. The hamann kit is nothing fancy, it's basically the same thing as what LSD doors offer http://www.lsd-doors.sa.com/ First, you open the door as per usual, it hinges to 40 degrees then the hydraulic arms take over to raise the door upwards. So it's not exactly the same mechanism as the lambo murcie which goes upwards right from the start. Costwise it should fall in the range of usd$2 to 2.5k for the kit. Installation shouldn't be too much more but it's important you get the right person to do it. It involves removing the front quarter panels to install the hinge. If LSD offers a kit for the 430, then drilling can be avoided. Your original hinges will be removed to make way for the mechanism. Good luck!
What are they smoking?? TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for 2 non-Ferrari hinges and a couple gas struts? LOL!!! Jedi
Why wouldn't this work on a 360 as well? The Lambo doors (was it a Countach?) were pretty heavy to lift. I like Fcar doors better.
Who the fnck cares how the doors open ... once driving they are closed. Your car and all, but what a waste of money. I suggest you give $10,000 to a stranger that needs the money. Far better use for it. Pete
Like I said, the actual LSD doors do not cost 10K. The kit as advertised on LSD Doors website is USD$4899. I'm sure it can be done cheaper as the kit for an M6, which is fundamentally the same hinge setup cost USD$2199. Maybe more expensive for a Ferrari, like the price of our parts. Definitely not 10K. Thats insane!
The designs are so different that I don't see how could any Lamborghini door fit in a Ferrari, unless a body shop makes custom body panels. I think is cheaper to buy a Lamborghini to start with!
Trust me, the hinge system fits. All they need to do is to remove the factory hinges, remove the front quarter panel and fit the new hinge system. Videos from Youtube... First video has a 360 with the lsd door... http://youtu.be/sMIakkDkUzc Second video is the installation video, gives you a clearer idea of how the hinge is fitted... http://youtu.be/T1Un-GY7opE
If you take a closer look at the LSD door mechanism, its very different from the McLaren or Lambo doors. The Mac and Lambo doors swing upwards immediately once unlatched. LSD doors open in the usual conventional manner up to 40 degrees before the hydraulics take over to raise the doors upwards. So still you achieve the gullwing door effect, just not as per the big boys. Not too shabby if you ask me, it's still acceptable if the 'pimp' factor is what you're after.
