    Thoughts on this?

"Recently we have learned from our sources that the LaFerrari Spider will be heading into production for a very limited time span. The car will be a roofless version of Ferrari’s flagship hypercar and lose the iconic butterfly doors, having them replaced with standard road car doors. As of yet it is officially unconfirmed but our source from within Ferrari has said the car will run in a very limited production. To put it into context, there will be 499 normal LaFerraris produced for $1.69 million however this spider version is expected to only have less than 10 cars produced for a very select number of Ferrari clients. The price of the car is again set to be much greater than that of the normal car and could fetch around between $2-4million as seen for the unique custom-made Ferrari series’, like the F12 TRS and SP12-EC."

True, but how much do you think the re-engineered tub costs them?

Doesn't the monocoque have an enclosed construction?

LaF spider is an amazing idea and will be one hell of a car but Im loosing count on all the over $1 million and super limited editions. Kind of ridiculous. What happened to the one awesome supercar every decade? -.-

LaF Spider again? ;) People should have reckoned that the roof is a structural part of CF tub of LaFerrari.
I also wonder how the superkids mean to mount and open normal doors in the LaFerrari. Just curious.
And for the last I dont believe neither like the idea ;) of LaF spider.

IIRC, the roof was bolted to the monocoque so I suppose a spider version is possible.

But the "confirmed" in the thread title is quite misleading.

To me "confirmed" would be an official announcement by Ferrari. The article linked in this thread is more speculation, just as in the other threads started above. An article on the Internet does not mean "confirmed". Not sure why we need yet another thread rehashing the same rumours.

Sooooo tired of these lame online-based news outlets hunting for clicks. Check the article, it's written by a 16 year old car spotter. Young lad probably doesn't understand what an imbecile an article like that makes you look like. I think saying it's a poor choice of words, is putting it lightly.

There is no confirmation from the factory on a production of LaF Spider - not even an indication last I heard. Anyone (other than those seriously reputable sources we have on board) claiming to have a source stating the contratry is most likely the victim of classic FOAF hearsay.

The only current possibility for LaF Spider that I'm familiar with, would be going through SP.

AFAIK the roof is an integral part, not bolted on. At any rate this is a laughable article. Please don't believe any idiocy you read.

It's the super cars kids site, it makes jalopnik look professional. Any "news" from the site should be taken with a grain of salt and verified elsewhere before its passed off as real news.

IF in fact they produce a $4M LaF Spyder they might enjoy laughing on their way to the bank....but so too will be the very fortunate few that purchase one. If the LaF is any indication of future fiscal upside--the Spyder will likely sell for no less than 2x of their cost basis IF IN FACT anybody ever decides to sell one. As we know, most Ferrari clients at this level are able to "easily" afford that cost and likely won't be purchasing them to sell for a profit, but rather own the rights of having a car of that magnitude in their collection of cars.
