There is this article on The Supercar Kids stating that Ferrari is recalling all LaFerrari's due to "potential fire hazard". Anybody here knows anything about it? Is it true or just made up?

    ______

All LaFerraris Recalled For Potential Fire hazard

According to Autoblog NL, all the 499 Ferrari LaFerraris are being recalled and the reason speculated is a potential fire hazard. Last summer one LaFerrari seemed to suffer a minor fiery fate, so it’s no surprise that attempts to avert disaster are being made.

Ferrari are believed to be calling out to all of LaFerrari customers to alert them to the issue although we’ve heard suggestions that it’s being reported as an issue with the paint rather than the more deep-rooted issue. With very limited information circulating as a result of neither dealers, service teams, or customers being allowed to discuss the topic, full details are not clear at this time.

Ferrari are denying a worldwide recall of the LaFerrari and are mentioning this occurrence as mere regular maintenance where the fuel tank is undergoing some minute adjustments. Reports are coming in that an additional electrical non-conducting coating has been given to the tank which points out to minimising a potential fire outbreak.

To undergo this repair the car must be heavily stripped apart, a process that takes a few weeks labour per vehicle to access all the required components. TSK has received images of further vehicles undergoing the work however unfortunately we are not at liberty to distribute them.

UPDATE: TSK have now received images of further cars undergoing possible recall work, including the famous ‘Kermit green’ LaFerrari belonging to Jay K, lead of the band Jamiroquai, being worked upon in the UK

    There's a difference between a recall and a campaign. A big one.

Speculation at this point. Even if it were a recall, the 918 has had two recalls at the back-end of last year with issues over axle- and control arms.

Porsche Recalls $850,000 918 Spyder Again

and one 918 (in Canada) went up in flames last year also ( Michael Wekerle's Porsche 918 Spyder burns at Caledon gas station - Toronto - CBC News ), though that seems to have been user error when overfilling the tank...yet all the armchair experts knew best at the time and were predicting 'impending doom'...

    GTspirit posted this:
Update: Ferrari Issues Service Campaign for Select LaFerrari Models

    ---

"Unlike early reports suggested, Ferrari hasn’t issued a recall for all LaFerraris. Ferrari has issued a service campaign for some of the earlier LaFerrari models. As part of this service campaign improvements are made to the LaFerraris fuel tank.

Ferrari confirmed to GTspirit that there is no fire risk with the LaFerrari. Also unlike earlier reports the service to individual LaFerraris can be done in a day. Ferrari will reach out to individual customers but if you are unsure your LaFerrari is affected it won’t hurt to give your dealer a call.

As you surely know by now, the LaFerrari has a 6.3-litre V12 which is connected to an electric motor, unlike the P1 and 918 Spyder it does not have an e-mode though. The Ferrari F150 V12 has an output of 789 hp at 9000 rpm and 700 Nm at 7000 rpm while its electric motor has a maximum output of 161 hp and 270 Nm of torque. That delivers a total combined power output of 950 hp."

Thanks for posting. It shows that the earlier report was full of hype & conjecture.

    There is?

In both cases the car comes back to the manufacturer to fix a mistake. The only difference IMO is marketing people don't want to say "recall"

If my eyes were correct , I recently saw a la ferrari split in half to update a problem part . If true , major design flaw for sure .
You would always wonder if car could be put back with
    Factory precision.

    The long way home
This isn't uncommon... F50s, Carrera GTs, 918s, (I'm sure there are others) all require to be "split in half".
