Contemplating either the Novitec springs or the entire coil overs from ksport - the Ksport Kontrol Control Pro.

I want to lower the car just a tad and add 11/15 spacers.

Vivid’s running a special and it’s only a grand more to get the entire setup versus just the springs from Novitec. Anyone used these before?

    Bad idea?

Any specific reason you want to change the springs/shocks? Not sure if you're aware but you can lower on the OEM coilovers and springs without changing any parts, since they're adjustable from the factory

With aftermarket full coilovers, you'd lose the magnetic suspension capability of the OEM shocks. Not sure how good Ksport coilovers are (I haven't heard of them), so potentially could be a step backwards after losing the magride.

Novitec springs from what I've heard will drop your ride height quite a bit, and often are used for those that want a significant drop.

If I personally was to do aftermarket coilovers, it would probably be only if the oem shocks started leaking, and would replace with either a KW, JRZ or Ohlins (not sure if they make them) set.

    Oooh, forgot about mag ride.

no specific reason except a more firm ride on spirited drive.

    I’d drop it a tad, like 15mm……

    Thanks for the reply

Never heard of the Ksport brand. And Vivid Racing isn't exactly the most reputable retailer out there.

Don't cheap out on the suspension, it can adversely affect your relationship with your $200K car.

Not the plan at all. I know a bunch of folks here have installed Novitec springs and had good things to say. If I go ahead and don’t like it, it’s always reversible.

The 458 (for me) is a bit of an experimental vehicle. DME Tune, Kline catbacks and 200 cell cats, Escort jammer….. all good (so far).

Running out of mods, I figured this would be the last one.

I've heard good things about Novitec springs as well. I believe the springs are both shorter and firmer than OEM springs, but I think this means you'll get a mandatory drop (even at the highest coilover perch setting), which may be more than the 15mm you desire. A decent number of people go with Novitecs to also get a more significant drop vs. what is available on factory springs

I'd say Novitec if you're ok with ending up with a 20mm or 25mm drop

I ran my 458 lowered on the OEM coils for a good 5000 miles or more and it handled eh. I then got the novitec setup and lowered it even more. With the novitec it's a vast improvement on both handling and comfort. The issue is when you drop the OEM coils you're removing a lot of preload which makes the spring rate much less. The novitec springs look linear and have more spring rate. In race mode the car is still very comfortable compared to stock even.

I wish we had more suspension options...

Ksport isnt a brand I would put on my car. If it was ohlins, jrz, mcs, moron, h&r, eibach etc then I'd do it.

Vivid isn’t reputable and many parts they sell are Chinese made. For carbon body kit type bits, no big deal, but for springs and suspension components, not a chance.

Depends how you look at it but put it this way K-Sport am sure is made in Taiwan

I had 3 leaking shocks on the 458 and found a set of coilovers that where made & manufactured by Yellow Speed Racing

Never heard of them before but again based in Tawain so 100% I bet there will no difference between these coilovers and the k sport one

Yellow Speed seem to be big in the drifting world and sell lots of coilovers for other manufactures

Since I like to experiment with the car they was on offer on a Black Friday holiday and got the complete set for about £650 it was a no brainier and they come with a 2 year warranty (prices have gone up slightly now but probably still cheaper than novitec setup)

Only thing you have to use of your own is the orignal top mounts and you have to bypass the magnride Error that comes up on the display everything else comes complete in the box from Yellow Speed

Yes I have lost magnride but I honestly can’t notice any difference on the new setup

The car drives superb bearing in mind I still havent set in the damper adjustment as it has a 36 way adjument from Soft to Hard

I still have the alignment to sort and more importantly have the ride height exactly where I wanted it which is very very very low and it still drives a dream

Basically from my theory they likes of K Sport, Yellow Speed, BC Racing are all
Manufactured in Taiwan and most likely are all the same quality

The BC Racing coilovers seem to be popular in the R8 world as again the silly mangnerides leak and you know how much is each shock from the dealers

Each to their own I guess but i know I wouldn’t pay for the Ferrari tax and brand!
